I want to talk about Andrew Cuomo for a minute.

Then we can put him in the dustbin of history and forget him.

First, he had to resign as governor of NY due to multiple plausible accusations of sexual harassment - which he responded to by attacking the women who came forward. Not content to quietly retire and be thankful that he wasn't charged and prosecuted, he decided to run for mayor of NYC. He lost the primary for NYC mayor. Again not content to retire and be thankful etc., he decides to run as an independent, tapping into MAGAT money, courting endorsements from Donald Trump and Elon Musk, running disgracefully racist and xenophobic ads (in one of the most diverse cities in the world) in a pathetically craven and increasingly desperate attempt to (checks notes) "save" NYC from promises of free childcare and bus fare.

Jaw dropping. No words. Hope to never hear of him again.

Then, we found out he was abusing some of those staffers by sexually harassing them. Oh, no, buster! That will never play for ANY DEM pol anymore. You do not abuse the people whose efforts make you look good. Nope! Pound sand you entitled spoiled brat man-child. Go away.

He had a lot going for him as Governor of New York. He was lacking for protecting nursing homes during the Covid pandemic, but otherwise, he led his state and the nation in his response.

But Cuomo followed the path of Icarus and flew too close to the Sun, where he perished.

In the mayoral race, his forte was his attempt to condemn a fellow candidate, a fellow Democrat. It didn't work and it helped to destroy whatever good will he hoped he could garner.

It's a big tent party, and it has to be to win nationally. We have our differences. No one is perfect either, and running for office as a Democratic politician guarantees that every single imperfection will be put under an electron microscope.

But when a politician refuses to respect the Democratic primary, much less actually runs against the winner, that crosses the last line for me. And anyone who supports that traitorous candidate is no longer a reliable Democratic voter in my opinion.

We certainly see the occasional poster here disparaging progressive voters who, apparently didn't vote for Hillary, Joe, or Kamala. (Personally I don't know any progressive like that.)
Let's see those posters disparage the Cuomo voters for the next few years.

Also made the women in his office dress in skirts and high heels. Made his own daughter dress like a man.

And in the heat of calls for his resignation in March of 2021, he went out to the sidewalk of the Governor's mansion, where he knew the press would be, and walked around talking on his phone with his fly prominently unzipped. The obvious implied message: I gotcha resignation right here! The articles said "caught with" but I think it was intentional. Same attitude as his recent tweets. His daughter is looking right at the cameras.

Governor Andrew Cuomo was caught with unzipped pants as he took a stroll with his daughter, Mariah on the grounds of the Governor's Mansion in Albany. Calls seeking the New York governor's resignation gained momentum as seventh woman came forward accusing Cuomo of sexually harassing her.

On Friday, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, issued a joint statement demanding Cuomo's resignation in light of multiple women accusing him of sexual harassment.

He gave our Medical Cannibis industry to out of state corporations after strangling the initial program with restrictive regulations and a miserly super restrictive list of conditions allowed into the program. F or personal example THC protects nerves and the brain itself from damage due to hypoxia, that is the textbook opposite of a toxin. It also has no lethal dose. So after being part of the lobbying through the Drug Policy Alliance the only way any diabetic could enter the program was for severe untreatable chronic pain, or after already suffering neuroapthy. It could protect against it, but he decided to make "the strictist most regulated medical cannabis program" in the USA. He was only considering his future ambitions and future campaign donations.

On the good side he did Jawbone Verizon, Spectrum, and Cable Vision to offer affordable internet to a few groups, including any family with kids on the school lunch program, even the reduced price list.

He created the School Tax Caps and froze school budgets to random financial indexes. It left schools unable to budget. Programs were decimated, but in the last moments before school opened, he'd throw some non-budgeted discretionary cash back at them so they could re-open. It was drumph-style chaos. And it was corrupt because it required school districts and political reps to buy him off personally, just to survive.

There once was a gov from NY,
Whose conduct was vile, slimy, and sly.
When the truth hit the air,
He resigned in despair—
But swore he’d give politics one more try.

He aimed for the mayor’s grand chair,
As if folks would forget, or not care.
But New Yorkers said “no,”
And sent him below—
Still, he’d not stay defeated down there.

So he courted the MAGA brigade,
And Trump’s praise—what a grim masquerade!
He ran ads full of spite,
Spewing fear day and night,
In a city whose soul he betrayed.

Now his legacy’s fit for the bin,
A tale steeped in hubris and spin.
Let him fade from the stage,
And the front page’s rage—
May we never hear Cuomo again.

Gov. Mario Cuomo delivered to the 1984 Democratic National Convention....

“It’s an old story,” he told the convention. “It’s as old as our history. The difference between Democrats and Republicans has always been measured in courage and confidence. … The Republicans believe that the wagon train will not make it to the frontier unless some of the old, some of the young, some of the weak are left behind by the side of the trail. … ‘The strong,’ they tell us, ‘will inherit the land.’

I had never heard of Mario Cuomo before that night,
but I actually viewed this speech the first time in the home of my best childhood friend,
who was a strong Reagan supporter,
and declared to him "THIS is the guy we Democrats should have nominated,
INSTEAD of Mondale".... He could offer nothing to refute that supposition...

(I was a Hart supporter in 1984, and worked for him with a little team of youngsters which I recruited---
always said that it was extremely STUPID for the Democrats in 1984 to nominate
the Vice President of the guy who LOST by a LANDSLIDE in the previous election---
but it appears that it was 'his turn' that year, particularly after Ted Kennedy refused to run)

I did hope that Mario Cuomo would run for President, especially in 1988,
but he didn't, for whatever reason(s)...

Now his son Andrew, who also became a Governor of New York,
gained some national prominence in the first year of the COVID crisis,
with his daily covid press conferences---

At that point I thought that he might become a new national Democratic Party leader,
and even a future presidential nominee of the party---

but I had no idea that he had already torpedoed his own presidential chances
via numerous instances of sexual harassment of women....

'Sad acorn'....

And yeah--- his second campaign for mayor of New York City
did him no credit, either--- with the religious and racial things...

Sometimes the sons fail to credit the fathers--- RFK Junior is another prime example

Closing with the full 'tale of two cities' speech by NY Gov. Mario Cuomo in 1984:
(and this speech still resonates today, and maybe ESPECIALLY today!)

I lived in New York then, and I actually got to meet him once.

Andrew was never cut from the same cloth, or maybe he just took a lot for granted because his political career came easy. Always a wise-ass kid, he stepped into it before he'd graduated college.

that he didn't even do a concession speech, nor call Mamdani to congratulate him. What a fucking low life weasel. It's better off that he just ride off in the sunset. What a whiny immature baby.

his father: probably the best thing about Andrew!

Too bad that he did NOT live up to Mario!
