So -- what did Iearn from last night?

Here's my take on it. Remember: I'm just a grumpy old soldier, Vietnam vet, Southerner, and at age 81 I don't give a damn what people think about me.

First, let's see what happened.

VIRGINIA -- Democratic sweep of gov, lt gov, atty gen; gov spanberger won by huge 15% margin. Weak AG candidate won by 6%. Muslim woman won lt gov by 10%. Democrats swept 10 Republicans out of the House of Delegates. And -- in every locality that did vote for Republicans, the % of Democratic votes was up by 4% to 10% over previous years.

CALIFORNIA -- CA voters have made CA Republicans into an endangered species. Which is a good thing.

PENNSYLVANIA -- Republicans tried to knock off three Supreme Court justices -- all three won by decisive margins.

GEORGIA -- In a tiny, statewide election that no one knew about, two Republican members with safe seats on the state Public Service Commission LOST to Democrats.

MISSISSIPPI -- Three Republicans in state legislature knocked off.

NEW JERSEY -- Democrats rule

NYC -- A Muslim commie socialist beardo kicked ass all over the place.

Now -- WHAT DID WE LEARN:
1. It's the economy and jobs, stupid -- it's not "boys in girls' bathrooms" as the failed Republican ticket in Virginia learned.

2. It's health care.

3. It's equal rights for all -- color, gender be damned -- we are all in this together.

4. What wins in NYC will not win in Mississippi but paying attention to what people need wins everywhere.

5. Trump and the MAGA cult are on life support -- let's pull the plug in Nov 2026.

In addition, I’ll add that even looking in Virginia at the number of eligible voters versus those who voted, we have work to do to continue to get out the vote.

What a difference a year makes! The sky is blue blue blue in Virginia even though I live in a red area of it. I knew things were going to be good because there were not that many signs for Winsome Earl-Sears.
