An Oregon woman who is a U.S. citizen was detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement for about seven hours last Monday after taking pictures of agents unmarked cars near a Gresham Chick-fil-A.
Berenice Garcia-Hernandez, 25, snapped into action after seeing a Facebook post alerting people to the agents presence near the fast-food chain. The person who sounded the social-media alarm said he had been too scared to get pictures of the agents license plates.
This time, they broke the cars passenger side window, opened the door and got her out of the car, she said.
Eventually, they detained her, took her to the ICE facility in South Portland and told her she was in so much trouble, she said.
In no way, shape or form did I ever become aggressive, she said. I complied the whole time. The only reason why they took a chance on following me, its because of the type of car that I was driving.

ICE cannot legally arrest or detain U.S. citizens for immigration enforcement because its authority only extends to non-citizens. U.S. citizens can be detained when they are suspected of obstructing or assaulting law enforcement officers. That's why in every case where they illegally detain a U.S. citizen, ICE agents lie and say their victims obstructed or assaulted them. Suing them for billion$ is the only legal remedy.

(165 posts)How soon will it be before we begin to see lawyers advertising on TV offering to represent plaintiffs in such cases on a contingency basis and sue these Federal goons for millions. It seems obvious that the Feds are exceeding their authority. So it sounds like there's money to be made here and it's the right think to do. It's time to legally "traumatize" these corrupt LEO's. And every citizen should not be deterred from photographing their actions because that is valuable evidence which can expose their perjury in court trials. And many cases will be settled out of court because of overwhelming evidence against them.
