The one thing that Mamdani's win can teach us is

that it is really good to run against two very bad candidates.

Just as Harris' loss last year was analyzed based on the mindset of the analysts, too many are projecting their own views an biases into last night's results. Liberals and progressives say Mamdani's win means the party needs to go more to the left. Moderates say that Sherrill and Spanberger's wins means the party needs to run more centrist candidates. Both takes are wrong.

Every election is different based on a number of factors. One of the biggest factors in location. I doubt Mamdani would have won in either Virginia or New Jersey. And not sure Sherrill and Spanberger could have won in New York City.

Plus the issues and public mood in each election is different from the last election and will be different in the next election.

The real lesson is that no party should be using a set rule book if they want to win. Every election whether for Congress or Governor or Mayor needs to be run on an individual basis with the right candidate and the right message.

Well, that's my rant for the day. Fell free to talk amongst yourselves.

2. Plus, candidates need to consider their voters.

What works in New York City does not necessarily resonate with Democratic voters and Independents in more moderate parts of the country. To me, the message is be brave and direct in your messaging, use social media effectively, project a can-do positive attitude, and identify the issues that your voters care about and offer them solutions.

Labels are powerless when confronted with good policy. The Democrats have been running to an ever-rightward center since Mondale because we are more afraid of labels than we are proud of policy.

We've tried being afraid of the right for 40 years; it hasn't worked.

Mikie Sherrill: "I am fighting for you. I'm fighting to get your costs down. I'm not doing a 10 year study. I'm not writing a strongly worded letter. I'm declaring a state of emergency to drive your costs down. I'm increasing that first time home buyers program so you can get your foot in the door. I'm taking on those landlords who are colluding to drive up your rental prices. Will my opponent do that? No."

Spanberger: "We’re going produce more energy and we’re going to lower energy costs. We are going to produce more energy here in Virginia and make sure that data centers pay their fair share." She also campaigned on lowering the cost of homes, cracking down on pharmaceutical prices and making data centers pay their fair share.

I think they gain credibility and support. "Help me get this done" instead of "I'm gonna do this."

4. Exactly! Well stated. And run on the issues that people care about, not just "I am against Trump".

Really want to see more painting of the GOP with all the bad stuff, not just Trump, Trump, Trump.

For President because that person will align perfectly with some states and not others why most go centrist at the end because more of the overall country used to be that way.

I am not sure after Trump that is true any more. A good portion of America seems to want radical change.

Especially young men, they are being heavily influenced by many different groups online and podcasters.
