People are upset about the tariffs, inflation, IHS thuggery, etc., but I think the East Wing destruction neatly embodied our discontent. It was a simple, tangible, and graphic yet potently symbolic depiction of the America we love slipping away. And Trump was gleeful about taking credit for it! Usually he denies or distracts from his worst actions. At my monthly class reunion lunch, we avoid politics but at the last one everyone was talking about the East Wing and shaking their heads. It should be in every campaign ad for the midterms. It's almost literally a smoking gun.
