The Cuomo Campaign posted this super dumb and racist AI video on the official campaign site, during their second debate so he could pass the buck and deny responsibility.
Here is an article from the Guardian confirming that is was the Cuomo campaign and that they in no way actually denied posting it. Not as blatant or slick as Trump, his fellow alum of the same rich-boy private high school. It shows he isn't that much better in regards to his own character. And he was a literal carpetbagger, who "traded" residences with his daughter with no actual roots here. I doubt he even paid the higher city income tax rate yet. Even if he grew up here he has been living in Westchester county for decades now.

Not even 20 minutes into the second mayoral debate, Cuomos official account, Andrew Cuomo, tweeted the video. It was reshared by many before being deleted.
The Cuomo and Mamdani campaigns did not immediately respond to the Guardians request for comment. The video, which has been saved and reshared by various people, runs a little over two minutes and opens with an AI iteration of Mamdani, first running through the streets of New York and then eating rice with his hands. It goes on to show a Black man in a keffiyeh shoplifting, a man abusing a woman, a sex trafficker, a drug dealer, and others, all showing their support for Mamdani.
Reaction to the video, which was re-uploaded by journalist Prem Thakker, was fast and negative. Shannon Watts, the founder of Moms Demand Action, a grassroots organization that advocates for gun violence prevention, called it so gross and full of racist stereotypes, including a Black man dressed like a pimp trafficking a car full of white women. Cuomo needs to be thrown in the ash heap of history.
I hope he gets the type of job the low character he demonstrated deserves, fighting traffic tickets or doing legal work to collect debt for waste haulers or defend polluters or something else dirty and demeaning.

(60,671 posts)As a private citizen, with no elected position what would it even mean. That he can't register as a Democrat? I suspect even he knows that he has no political future as a Democrat and likely as anything else.
His votes yesterday were more likely because he was seen as the way to vote against Mamdani.
At this point, his career and reputation are deservedly trashed by his own actions. It should be a cautionary story. Hard to believe he was a hero here about 5 years ago ... before his sexual harassment accusations and his obvious nastiness in this race. I don't think, even without the accusations, he would have weathered a primary and the oppo research as some of what made him a completely unattractive candidate were there from the beginning.

To hell with you, Andrew-whether literal or figurative (of your own making).

(7,781 posts)while I listened to Mamdami last night. The populist vibe was VERY similar. The positive theme, empowering people, yeah, it reminded me of Mario Cuomo from back in '84.
Mario Cuomo's '84 keynote address was the first time I had heard him speak. There was a lot of hype about it before hand, a very big build up. I wondered if he would live up to the hype, but he did and it was awesome. Here in AZ, we had a late season monsoon storm that night, LOTS of thunder and lightening. Oddly, the lightening strikes and thunder outside seemed to be magically well timed to points Mario Cuomo was making on my TV. "Wow!" I thought! "This guy is not only a great speaker, but the special effects are awesome!"
Listening to his sex harassing son lately, tsk tsk... what a disappointment. No where near his father's political savvy, just anger and sour grapes that people decided to hold him accountable for his horrible treatment of women in his political sphere. And then, running against a DEM after losing a primary? Unforgivable.
