Good news. I think he would've lost. Minimal Dem enthusiasm, no GOP support. 617Blue Nov 5 #3

Let’s get a real Dem to run for his seat.

Note: Golden is the guy who said he would be “OK” with a second Trump term, just a couple of weeks before the 2024 election.

No surprise for this gentleman to time his announcement on a day when Dems are celebrating a complete electoral wipeout of the Republicans.

But his news isn't the bummer for Democrats he probably thinks it is. First, I think we can win that district with an actual liberal; second, even if not, it won't matter for House control in 2026—still a year away, but fairly clear Democrats have the upper hand. To say the least.

Golden isn't a bad guy but lots of elected Dem men seem to be vulnerable to "manosphere" influence.

His two elections went to recounts. It will be tough for this mostly Republican district to win back. I vote in Maines other district and there is good to him dropping out.

Given his history and past remarks, I figured he might just switch parties, but he would lose in the Republican primary as well.
