I went on a trip when I was 8 years old with my Aunt Bibba and Uncle Robert to Washington DC and to New York City.

At age 8 because I love the place so much, I made my mind up then and there that I was going to live in Manhattan.

I read the New Yorker magazine all the time, and Gourmet magazine which was largely based on all kinds of things happening in New York City and I also bought this book called "New York on $5 a Day" which became my Bible. I memorized almost everything in there every sight to see. I knew there were 20 blocks to a mile in Manhattan. I knew every bus route every Subway I mean I just memorized the whole thing ( I was around 12 years old then, circa 1964) and at age 21, having saved up the gigantic sum of $500, and enough money for the plane ticket, I went to Atlanta airport and got onto a Delta flight to LaGuardia airport, and began my actual adult life in my beloved Manhattan.
There are tons and tons and tons of stories I could tell but that's for a later time.

Manhattan especially, but all of New York City in general, is my spiritual home still, the place I dreamed of, the place I got to, the place where so many unbelievable things happened to me and I loved the spirit of revolution in the air last night!

I live in Los Angeles now but I was getting goosebumps watching Mamdani giving his victory speech.
