"What you're going to get tonight is you're going to get to the Republican party without Trump," Bannon said. "That's what you're going to see tonight. And people think that you're going to get these low propensity, low information voters out there without Trump. You're kidding yourselves."

(10,915 posts)Trump and his goons loathe the people who vote for them and worship them. They desire the acceptance of polite society and the upper class people that they believe give meaning and purpose to their lives. They could not care less about housing prices for people or grocery costs for families or health care deserts for seniors and the disabled. They do not like their voters, in fact they view them as something on their shoes - to be scraped off and discarded as soon as possible.

On June 9, 2024, a video clip of former U.S. President Donald Trump on the campaign trail went viral in which he reportedly told his audience, "I don't care about you, I just want your vote. I don't care." Dozens of posts on X containing the clip racked up millions of views collectively. "Freudian slip of the century," one X user commented.

(10,915 posts)It pains my soul to know that at the very least there are enough dupes and marks in the population to make that man winning seem possible or even probable. I hate seeing this once proud beacon of freedom reduced to the role of a sexually abused minor unable to articulate exactly where the bad man touched us. I want him prosecuted, convicted and sentenced to die in prison...or dead of a heart-attack or any other natural cause (as long as its soon)...

(2,249 posts)Implying the GOP is powerless/nothing without Trump himself. Might as well be Trump himself talking. The goal is to intimidate the GOP at large into not abandoning Trump just because they lost.
This is less satire, more entirely what is to be expected in a scenario like this, from a Trump apparatchik like Bannon.

(6,662 posts)We have about 10 years worth of election data at this point that shows there's a significant chunk of voters that ONLY shows up to vote when he's on the ballot, and they do not vote in any elections that he's not in.
If they can't figure out how to harness those voters and get them to the polls, they're screwed.

Id be surprised if Vance has the same ability to draw those kind of voters. I believe he grew up working class, but I think trumps crudeness in character and mannerisms, and complete lack of civility is actually a major draw.

(8,163 posts)That MAGA dies with Trump. Maga was on the ballot all over the nation last night and it was soundly rejected. They don't really give a shit about the policies. Yea they love the cruelty, but if Trump woke up tomorrow with a heart and said he was gonna start protecting the most vulnerable among us and provide universal health care I think many Magas would stay right there with them. Most of these people literally have ZERO understanding of ideology and nuance, it's all about Trump. Trump's ideas were rejected last night, but I am not convinced Trump himself has been. Trump, sadly, would still be a formidable foe in an election. At least for now.
