Aaron Rupar @atrupar 2hTrump on AI: "They're building their own electric utility plant. They become a utility if you think about it. They're building the utility and the electric right alongside -- this is where they have their transformers and everything -- they're building the most expensive electric plants you've ever seen. Some by nuclear."

You know damn well every time he says that word he's picturing robots in disguise.

The Commander-in-chief told the crowd in Florida, home to a huge Cuban population who escaped the Castro regime, that for generations Miami has been a haven for those fleeing communist tyranny in South Africa.
Trump then pivoted to attacking African nation, who he accuses of committing genocide against white farmers, and said he will boycott the G20 meeting in Johannesburg later this month.
He then weaved his way back to discussing his problems with various South American governments.

...behind the buffoonery? A cynical plan to prioritize AI data centers which gobble electricity and water from communities and cause utilities prices to skyrocket, replacing the Biden climate change investments in alternative energy which he's stifled or blocked by clawing back funding Congress appropriated:
Trump's AI plan calls for massive data centers. Expect electricity costs to rise
Regardless of what powers AI, the simple law of supply and demand makes it all but certain that costs for consumers will rise.
The White House released the AI Action Plan Wednesday, vowing to expedite permitting for construction of energy-intensive data centers as it looks to make the country a leader in a business that tech companies and others are pouring billions of dollars into.
The plan says to combat radical climate dogma, a number of restrictions including clean air and water laws could be lifted...
Massive amounts of electricity are needed to support the complex servers, equipment and more for AI. Electricity demand from data centers worldwide is set to more than double by 2030, to slightly more than the entire electricity consumption of Japan today, the International Energy Agency said earlier this year.
In many cases, that electricity may come from burning coal or natural gas. These fossil fuels emit planet-warming greenhouse gas emissions, including carbon dioxide and methane. This in turn is tied to extreme weather events that are becoming more severe, frequent and costly.
The data centers used to fuel AI also need a tremendous amount of water to keep cool. That means they can strain water sources in areas that may have little to spare.

Trump switches off power line project financing amid AI scramble for new energy
The canceling of a federal loan guarantee for a major power grid project comes despite the White House pledge to expand the energy network to feed the voracious power appetite from new data centers.
The AI Action Plan released by the White House on Wednesday calls for expedited permitting to speed the development of new infrastructure, while making federal lands available for data center and power generation infrastructure construction.
The Energy Department and the North American Electric Reliability Corp., the nations grid reliability watchdog, have warned that the U.S. needs thousands of miles more transmission lines to keep pace with demand. But permitting and financing delays have stymied construction last year, the U.S. built just 322 miles of high-voltage lines, according to a report this week from power grid consultancy Grid Strategies and advocacy group Americans for a Clean Energy Grid.
Two of the regional grids connected to the Grain Belt Express are facing particularly dire futures as demand skyrockets without enough new generation to keep up. One of them is the Midcontinent Independent System Operator, whose territory stretches from the upper Midwest to Louisiana, and the other is PJM Interconnection, which includes 13 states from Illinois to the East Coast.
These trends have driven up prices and choked off new industrial development, particularly of power-hungry data centers and manufacturing facilities.

This is private corporations developing AI and the suggestion is that they will be allowed to build on and use public lands, free.
The government should at least get long term lease payments for the use of the land. They are probably already getting subsidies and tax breaks.
