Bucks County (PA) to see transfer of power as top seats go blue on Election Night

After supporting Republicans for president and state attorney general in 2024, Bucks County voters overwhelmingly supported Democrats on Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2025, as Democratic candidates swept all row offices and unseated incumbent Republican candidates in the races for District Attorney and Sheriff.

While Bucks County -- long considered a "purple county" as it could swing either way in many elections -- turned red during the 2024 election for President Donald Trump, that support may have been short lived as voters in the county, on Tuesday, overwhelmingly voted for Democratic candidates.

In the election for county District Attorney, voters supported former federal prosecutor, Joe Khan, 47, by a margin of about 14% over his opponent, incumbent Republican District Attorney Jennifer Schorn.

Khan, of Doylestown, previously ran for state attorney general and, as a prosecutor, led sweeping corruption investigations in Allentown and Reading.

Also, in the race for Sheriff, Danny Ceisler, an army veteran and an attorney, defeated Republican incumbent Fred Harran, who has long been a fixture of law enforcement in Bucks County. Harran recently pushed to allow deputy sheriffs to work with ICE and utilize a federal immigration database, an effort that received pushback from the ACLU. Here, Ceisler unseated Harran by a margin of about 15%.

Bucks went red in 2024 and hopefully this is a death knell for Brian Fitzpatrick (PA-1), the only (R) member of Congress in SE PA.

The "common" thing I am seeing as the results of these "state/county/local" races are coming out, is that Democrats have been winning by double digits. I.e., it wasn't even "close". And this is an "off year" election.

ETA - Bucks County, PA, a rim county of Philly, is the 4th largest county by population in the state behind Philadelphia (city/county), Allegheny County (with Pittsburgh), and Montgomery County (another rim county of Philly).

Trump bully attitudes are getting squashed. I'll bet many of these "tough" guys and gals are weeping now. The shit they were doing is so anti-American that it's astonishing to me.

indicating that the school districts in the county (I think there are 3 big/regional ones), that had been plagued with "Moms (against) Liberty" book bannings and foaming-at-the-mouth MAGat-speak starting in 2021, have ALL been purged save for I think 1 (R) board member left out of the whole pile of them.

the Congressional District (then PA-8 and now PA-1), which entirely includes the county, elected a (D) - Patrick Murphy - to the seat. Murphy was one of the earliest members of Congress to endorse Barack Obama for President in 2008. Unfortunately Murphy lost the seat in the 2010 GOP rout, and Mike Fitzpatrick (R) took the seat. When Mike opted not to run again in 2016, his brother Brian ran and won the seat and has been there ever since.

Time to end that dynasty!

Something about "teaching Obama a lesson.." so he didn't get the House to help America.

First in Bensalem from 1955 to 1965 and then New Hope followed by Doylestown until adulthood. It was always conservative but interestingly the Peace Fair took place in Levittown I believe just as Vietnam War started to escalate and there was always a somewhat liberal bastion here and there of right-thinking individuals, often Jewish communities in Lower Bucks. If you want to read some interesting material, Google Bryn Gweled and Concord Park both in Bucks. Fascinating reading.

Were fun to see on 202 on Monday.

They crafted caricatures of Fred kissing Trump and ICE's ass.

Bucks County is done. They are just done. I think Fitzpatrick is shitting himself right now.

When Liz Cheney came to Bucks (Washington Crossing) to give her speech during the 2024 Presidential campaign, there was a good-sized crowd there.

I am guessing all those racist retired cops that moved to Bucks County out of Philly, are slowly dying off.

I remember driving out to Warminster for an interview at the Naval Air Station there (now closed) and it was the first time in my life that I had driven through neighborhoods with propane tanks attached to the side of the houses.
