(4,439 posts)I dont think theres a simple on/off switch. Staffing and operations will take days or weeks to get back to normal even with funding restored.
So they need to make a deal ASAP if they want to prevent travel chaos.

(13,191 posts)flying during a typically high volume Holiday period assisted by exhausted unpaid air traffic controllers, having near misses nearly everyday, seems like a recipe for an airliner crash imho.
If that happens, Trump will get the blame for not keeping airways safe, and have to end the shutdown because he is finding out that the ACA/Obamacare affects the new buzzword.... "Affordability".
