Sean Duffy does not inspire confidence.

Decreasing the number of flights before the holidays is catastrophic. So is having too few air traffic controllers.

This country is getting shit on by Republicans who refuse to end the shutdown. Fuck them all.

For a lot of us in the west, we have to use the Denver hub for most airlines and that's hell on a good day. Having flights cut will really be a mess as holidays come up.

2. Have someone come get them.
3. Rent a hotel room and wait it out.

Kinda figure Denver, busy hub that it is, may well see a lot of flight cutbacks as the Gang That Can't Govern Straight has to admit traffic controllers can't work forever without pay or sleep.

Lots of family, so he's covered for housing, but I know he wants to get back to the Borderlands before winter storms start hitting up north.

Well Milwaukee is pretty good at clearing roads, streets, runways, etc.
So it is not like having storms in other states.
They are prepared and used to snow.

But yes it is not going to be AZ in terms of weather.

It sounds like the airports will have some flights going out
and I would think that he can get on one of those at some point.

If push comes to shove maybe a family member will drive him home.
Someone might like a warm wear vacation to AZ.

Housing is no problem. Winter clothes.... 'nother story

He used to love to fly, but has been stuck in Denver before and really hates that airport. WI is fine, I know, great street clearing. Denver? Horrible place for a major hub.

I am used to large families with lots of siblings, cousins, nieces, nephews, etc etc.
Someone would volunteer to get an elderly relative home.
Or a young person who would do it for gas and food money.
And some warm weather.

I would think someone has a spare jacket and boots if need be.

Oh Denver is awful and the mystery of the aviation industry.
Worst location for an airport in the US.

I was once in the Denver airport and the power went off ALL DAY.
We sat there in the airport, no food, water, electricity, anything for hours.

My daughter was young and hungry.
She started at the man sitting across from to us until he handed over his packet of cheese crackers.

There is always someone who can do a family favor in a pinch.

He sits tight until a flight comes open.

So, yeah, if air traffic slows down, he will be staying or taking an air tour of flights around the nation via airports that are functioning. I can just hear his tales of WI to St Louis, Dallas, and who knows where else. Hope he sends postcards!

A man through no fault of his own is forced to live in an American airport.
It is funny.

Don't tell your neighbor about it.

Per Hannah Arendt, the reason for so much fascist lying is not get people to believe the lies, but to believe nothing.

You see it on DU now, where some people are automatically cynical. They don't realize that they've bought into the fascist playbook, become willing stooges. They don't realize they are carrying the tyranny's water for them.

Some level of cynicism is just wisdom, experience. Automatic cynicism, which is more present than before is something else entirely.

I know what is different now from what went before. It is very different now than before. The level of reflex cynicism is much higher. That doesn't make it a respectable strategy nor an effective one.

He's been working for no pay all this time. Many of his co-workers don't have a financial cushion to deal with this. Needless to say, the mood is dark at work for him.
