NY-GOV: Stefanik launches run for New York governor

Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.) formally announced her run for New York governor Friday, challenging New York Gov. Kathy Hochul (D), who’s running for a second full term next year.

In a two-and-a-half-minute ad launching her candidacy, Stefanik attacked Hochul over issues around affordability and cost of living expenses, while also tying her to New York City Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani (D), whom a narrator in the ad described as “a defund-the-police, tax-hiking, antisemitic communist.”

Mamdani is a democratic socialist, not a communist; he’s faced accusations of antisemitism surrounding his views around Israel and the Palestinians and for not initially condemning the phrase “globalize the intifada.”

“But from the ashes of Kathy Hochul’s failed policies, New York will rise like we always do,” the narrator in the ad said. “The spirit of the Empire State cannot be broken. All we need is a courageous leader ready for the fight. Elise Stefanik will make New York affordable and safe.”

If she didn’t pay attention to what happened Tuesday, then she needs to. Her alliance with Cheeto is an automatic disqualifier!

Is the district possibly going to go blue? Does she see the writing on the wall?

Also, whenever she gets asked a question she goes all dumb blonde, or doesn't answer at all?

Stefanik will barely be able to walk, let alone run, with that orange albatross wrapped around her neck.
