Spurious Analysis: It costs $18.39 to make the 2025 Walmart T-day bundle match the 2024 one!

NORTH IDAHO (Spurious Analysis Service) -- King Donald Trump, doing business as the president of the United States, is all excited about the fact that Walmart's 2025 Thanksgiving Dinner basket is $40, whereas last year it was $55. This, apparently, "proves" Trumponomics is working.

The problem has been pointed out by pretty much everyone on the left side of the Internet: they're not the same basket. The 2025 edition of this holiday tradition is far lighter than the 2024 one was...maybe so all the people who were screwed out of their jobs by Trump's quixotic economic plan can walk home with it because they don't have cars anymore? That leads to the obvious situation: if you wanted to turn the 2025 basket into the 2024 one you could just buy the extra food, right? How much would the total cost of the basket and the add-ons be?

To answer that I first copied the 2025 basket from Walmart's corporate website. Here's what's in it:
Butterball Turkey, 13.5 lb. ($0.97/lb. — lowest price since 2019)
Kinder’s Fried Onions, 4.5 oz.
Campbells Cream of Mushroom Soup, 10.5 oz. (1 can)
Stove Top Turkey Stuffing, Twin Pack 2 x 6 oz.
Great Value Dinner Rolls, 12 ct.
Fresh Russet Potatoes, 5 lb.
Fresh Cranberries, 12 oz.
Great Value Baby Carrots, 2 lb.
Great Value Corn, 15 oz. (3 cans)
Great Value Green Beans, 14.5 oz. (3 cans)
Great Value Artisan Macaroni & Cheese, 12 oz. (3 boxes)
Great Value Brown Gravy Mix, 0.87 oz. (2)
Great Value Pie Crusts
Great Value Evaporated Milk, 12 fl. oz.
Great Value 100% Pure Pumpkin, 15 oz.

Now for the changes that cost money.
1. The 2024 basket contains two cans of green beans. The 2025 one has three. Green beans are 50¢ per can, which we need to subtract because to make this fair we need to delete a can of beans from this year's order.
2. The 2024 basket contains two cans of cream of mushroom soup. The 2025 basket has one. It's $1.00 per can.
3. The 2024 basket has a Southern Pecan Pie ($5.63) and whipped topping ($1.12) that the 2025 basket omits.
4. The 2025 basket lists two pounds of baby carrots that the 2024 basket doesn't have. Since this isn't on their website, let's subtract $3 and call it good.
5. In 2025 you don't get sweet potatoes ($2.94) or marshmallows ($1.47).
6. You also don't get two boxes of corn muffin mix (50¢ each).
7. Or the poultry seasoning ($1.97), chicken broth ($1.76), onions ($1.96) or celery stalks (97¢).
8. However, the 2024 basket doesn't contain the loaf of day-old bread you need for stuffing, whereas the 2025 version comes with boxed stuffing. The cheapest bread in the store works fine for this so subtract $1

I calculate this to be $15.32 so far. But wait! This year you get fresh cranberries rather than canned cranberry sauce. You MUST have sugar to make cranberries edible, so add $3.07 for a five-pound bag and we're at $18.39. Add that to the $40 for the basket and you wind up at $58.39 - with a smaller, more expensive turkey.
