The Truth Of The Shutdown

Krasnov is never going to reopen the government.

The only way the government will reopen is if Democrats cave.

Magats will simply blame Democrats.

The House is staying on vacation to keep the Epstein files sealed. Adelita Grijalva needs to push her lawsuit to get someone else other than Johnson to swear her in.

1. There is no way Johnson is going to be able to keep his shit up

His own members are catching heat. It doesn't get better for any of them by-the-day. The latest round of elections have to be making them nervous.

While I share a lot of your pessimism, I really do think the heat is rising fast enough that a lot of the Republican frogs are well aware they are boiling; I expect more and more to start jumping out of the pot.

2. The house will reconvene no later than November 21

That’s when the current CR passed by the house expires, and Johnson will have to reconvene to pass a new CR. If he doesn’t, there will likely be a motion to vacate the chair.

Unless of course the senate passes their version and sends it back to the house for passage, then The house will reconvene sooner.

But the shutdown would continue unless a bill is passed by both chambers.

4. There is also a special election Dec 2, 2025 in TN for congress in what they think is

a secure seat for republicans which will offset the seat of Grijalva. I think they don't want to seat her until that election is done. I hope everyone will support the dem in that race, perhaps another surprise flip?

Edit to add: It is a vacant seat after an early retirement.
