Rep. Tim Burchett (R-Tenn.) on Friday said the government shutdown, the longest in modern U.S. history, will stretch past Thanksgiving.
I think its going to go on after Thanksgiving, Burchett told anchor Blake Burman on The Hill on NewsNation. Yeah, I think the pain is going to continue until the TSA [if] you have three or four Democrats peel off and capitulate on this thing, and its going to come back and say, Hey, you know this is our health care issue. Lets come to the table. Lets quit suffering. Lets get to the table on this, on this health care issue.
And until that happens, I dont see it happening, Burchett added.
Burchett said that Republicans have staked their ground with passing a clean continuing resolution, but added if Democrats want to negotiate over expanding health care subsidies set to expire at the end of the year, Whats wrong with President Trumps idea of opening the government?

Burchett sounds like he's proud of it.

(2,295 posts)Democrats just watched as the republicans got wiped out in elections from coast to coast along side polling that shows the public blames Republicans more than Dems for the shutdown. Why on earth would they want to end this when it looks like public support is behind them and the president is fighting to block food assistance to poor people?

Uglicans should get all the benefits of guilt by association through less-informed voters, on top of the actual guilt obvious to informed voters.
