Social media users are criticizing former Kentucky court clerk Kim Davis for her multiple divorces as she urges the Supreme Court to take on her case challenging gay marriage.
Davis has been divorced three times, according to court records obtained by U.S. News & World Report. Davis refused to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples, saying her faith prevented her from complying with the Supreme Courts 2015 ruling in Obergefell v. Hodges. The Supreme Court was expected to consider whether it will hear Davis case at a closed-door conference on Friday.
Josh Sorbe, a spokesperson for the U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee Democrats, wrote on X, The triple-divorced homophobe Kim Davis is back at the Supreme Court today to try preaching sanctity of marriage and block LGBTQ+ folks right to marry. Shell lose again, and shell hopefully begin to reflect within.
Actor John Barrowman wrote on X, This B**** Kim Davis who has been married FOUR TIMES, thinks she has the right and moral judgment to challenge my marriage to my husband
and other loving couples out there in the Supreme Court.

I wouldn't want to be married to her.

(1,975 posts)"Married to her"?? I wish I had never had her cross my radar screen, although perhaps (?) it is helpful to be reminded just how deep in the dregs our species can fall.
Suck it up, sweetheart.

(205 posts)Typical hypocrite. Kim Davis applies sanctity of marriage to everyone else, but not to herself. Bless her black heart!

(21,155 posts)"I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another woman commits adultery." Jesus left little ambiguity there.
So which is it, Kim? Did you commit adultery, thus your husbands were free to go elsewhere? Or did they go looking for favors elsewhere because, well, you're you? Or did the breakups have nothing to do with sexual immorality, thus you're a a serial adulterer?
And if you think your "faith" is going to save you after all that, do you want to risk an eternity in hell by leaning on "once saved, always saved?" That's one hell of a risk. Pun intended. Perhaps she should read about willful sin and its consequences. 1 Corinthians 6: 9-11 and Hebrews 10:26-27.
I enjoy twisting Christians into pretzels with their own book. Beware apostates. We know the play book. Often times better than Christians. Ironically, a big reason we're apostates.

(907 posts)So may anyone who opposes divorce on religious grounds refuse any divorced person another civil marriage? So may anyone who, as a matter of faith, opposes women cutting their hair or wearing slacks (an abomination!) refuse a civil marriage to such "sinners"? I say "nuts" to the nuts.

(3,152 posts)First marriage: Dwain Allen Wallace (married in the 1980s, divorced in 1994)
Second marriage: Joe Davis (married 1996, divorced 2006)
Third marriage: Thomas McIntryre (married 2007, divorced 2008)
Fourth marriage: Joe Davis (remarried 2009 -- this is the same man she married in 1996 and divorced in 2006)
Davis has two daughters from her first marriage and twins, a son and another daughter, who were born five months after her divorce from her first husband.
The twins were adopted by Davis's current husband, Joe Davis, who was also her second and fourth husband; the couple initially divorced in 2006 but later remarried. Joe Davis has also stated his support for her stance against same-sex marriage.
Davis's son Nathan works in her office as a deputy clerk and has taken the same position of denying marriage licenses to same-sex couples.
Shortly after the same-sex marriage license controversy, Davis said she and her husband switched from the Democratic Party to the Republican Party.

The Reich-wing Liberty Counsel. A bunch of God-botherers obsessed with sex and the lives of others. Their money; their lawyers.
