A significant number of President Donald Trumps supporters may have reached their breaking point as costs continue to climb, according to a new poll from Politico published Saturday.
The poll found that the typical Trump supporter would be willing to pay $65 more per month in taxes if it meant supporting the presidents agenda. After the Democratic sweep in this weeks elections, however, Politicos Jessica Piper argued that Trumps policies which some critics have blamed for the rising costs of goods and energy had officially gone too far for Trump voters.
The POLITICO Poll results are a reminder that while many of Trumps supporters have a reputation for intense loyalty they also have a breaking point, Piper wrote. And Tuesdays election results suggest that despite Republican voters willingness to pay a literal price for Trumps policies, the Trump agenda to date may have pushed voters too far.
Trumps tariff policy in particular has seen the cost of goods soar, with Americans bearing the cost of the tariffs by as much as 55%, NBC News reported. Energy prices have also soared, increasing twice as fast as inflation since the COVID-19 pandemic, largely due to the Trump administrations war on clean energy, and in spite of Trumps pledge to slash energy prices by half within 12 months.

(193,874 posts)I mean, I understand paying taxes is both inevitable AND FOR something. Yes its for the military but thats basically a jobs program (and cash cow).
Social security is separate but its THE greatest anti-poverty program ever invented.
Food programs diminish crime. One person is a crime, a few people is an incident, a group is a riot
.and riots grow.
These people are willing to PAY to show loyalty and fealty to ONE PERSON?

(2,108 posts)That Trump is a failure at everything he does. Everything. He's a failed businessman. He's a failed husband. He has no true friends. He's not charitable and failed at that. He's a failed golfer. Literally he has failed at everything he has ever done.

"affordability" and [Republicans] don't talk about it enough. Democrats did.
Trump today: I don't want to hear about the affordability.
