BRACE YOURSELF...RICK SCOTT claims he's "writing the bill right now" (Trump's new healthcare scam)

Rick Scott

@SenRickScott
Totally agree,
@POTUS
! I’m writing the bill right now.

We must stop taxpayer money from going to insurance companies and instead give it directly to Americans in HSA-style accounts and let them buy the health care they want. This will increase competition & drive down costs.

So the plan is to "give" us money that goes into an HSA, which we can then use to pay all medical expenses because there will be no such thing as health insurance? I'm sure those HSAs will cover everything, including catastrophic accidents, chronic serious illnesses, expensive drugs, right?

Well, good luck with that. (Although I generally agree.)

Imagine the fight the insurance companies will launch!!!

The fun part is that the origins of the Affordable Care Act began in the bowels of the Heritage Foundation, their intent - REQUIRING people (Freedumb!) to carry insurance; and thus protect insurance companies and expand their market.

And now they have come full circle….

euphemistically back when Clinton became POTUS, and yes, it is nearly 100% a "free-market solution" to getting more of the population covered, favored and conjured up by reich-wing think tanks in the late 80's/early 90's.

This is part of why the right collectively has NOTHING to replace the ACA, despite whining and lying about what it is for the past 15 years. It's already "their side's" best idea, but they cannot admit it, because they are compulsive liars and gaslighters.

I know it is not the case, but it ALMOST sounds like they are trying to reconfigure the subsidies and call it something innovative. The money is going to the greedy insurance companies anyway unless it is not spent. My gut tells me some scammer will create a faux insurance company and take the HSA money and run.

Richard Lynn Scott (né Myers; born December 1, 1952) is an American attorney, businessman, politician, and Navy veteran serving as the senior United States senator from Florida, a seat he has held since 2019.[a][5][6] A member of the Republican Party, he served two terms as the 45th governor of Florida from 2011 to 2019.

Scott is a graduate of the University of Missouri–Kansas City and the Dedman School of Law at Southern Methodist University. In 1987, after serving in the U.S. Navy and becoming a law firm partner, he co-founded Columbia Hospital Corporation. Columbia later merged with another corporation to form Columbia/HCA, which eventually became the nation's largest for-profit health care company.[7] Scott was pressured to resign as chief executive of Columbia/HCA in 1997. During his tenure as chief executive, the company defrauded Medicare, Medicaid, and other federal programs. The U.S. Department of Justice won 14 felony convictions against the company, which was fined $1.7 billion in what was at the time the largest healthcare fraud settlement in U.S. history.[8][9] Following his departure from Columbia/HCA, Scott became a venture capitalist and pursued other business interests.

It's been more like a race to the top. And outcomes in the U.S. often are worse than in countries that have national health care (which is most developed countries).

Originally, the intent was that the age of qualification was to be lowered gradually to zero. Universal healthcare costs less with better outcomes, but not here where there are profits to be made off of people's pain and suffering. WE are the shithole country because of Rethuglicans. They are our country's worst enemy.
