Billionaire Peter Thiel warns if you 'proletarianize the young people,' don't be surprised they end up communist

PayPal cofounder and Silicon Valley venture capitalist Peter Thiel doubled down on his worries about generational conflict and the future of capitalism after a similar warning he issued in 2020 proved eerily prescient.

After Tuesday night’s election victory of democratic socialist Zoran Mamdani as New York City’s mayor, an email Thiel sent five years ago went viral.

In the correspondence to Mark Zuckerberg, Marc Andreessen and others, he warned that “When 70% of Millennials say they are pro-socialist, we need to do better than simply dismiss them by saying that they are stupid or entitled or brainwashed; we should try and understand why.”

Thiel expanded on those concerns in an interview with the Free Press that was published on Friday, saying strict zoning laws and construction limits have been good for boomers, who have seen their properties appreciate, but they have been terrible for millennials, who are having an extremely hard time buying homes.

stupid or entitled or brainwashed
describes most billionaires these days. We've been doing "trickle-down economics" for the last forty-five years. Only the well to do have benefitted from it.

that creates enormous wealth out of assets that belong to the people is labeled "communism"
The mining of data is the sole reason for all this wealth. The data that the people generate with their lives.
Tax the wealthy MFs or redistribute the profits.

We should not be surprised when socialism is increasingly seen as a good thing.

when most under 30 people were wildly liberal and hoped to change the world. More than half of those 'hippie' types turned into conservative voters by the 1990s. As they entered careers, marriages, and gained income and mortgages, their views became more selfish. And just look at the ones who never can have enough money today.

The fact that they don’t understand this very basic human situation only confirms how deeply they’ve planted their heads up their own asses. Do they ever wonder if they are wrong? And maybe even realize that they are the bad guys?

...back in the late '60s or early '70s, when Reagan was governor of CA. To paraphrase: if you send the children of the working class and lower middle class to college (which is pretty much what the postwar GI bill did), you are going to expose them to the entire history of radical thought. If you simultaneously create an oligarchy, a declining economy, an increasingly dog-eat-dog culture, crappy jobs with with few or no benefits, and you promote "leaders" like Maggie Thatcher who pontificate about how "there is no such thing as society" and dictate to the world how it should spin--well, you shouldn't be surprised when you get "leftist" agitators among your youth calling for revolution!

"Proletarianize" simply means to cause a person or group to become working class. Is he afraid that young people becoming part of the working class will suddenly turn them into communists?
