This is exactly the reason why no one is showing much sorrow for Pelosi's announcement of retirement. It will be worse for Schumer.

Preserve the status quo for Third Way Democrats and centrists.

No rocking the boat.

No push for progressive policies.

Fight a little, but not so hard that you win.

Jonathan Karl posted about it. I think it's true. Claire McCaskill at this moment is on MSNBC with "inside" info about 10 Dems voting for this. MSNBC is saying the vote will be Monday though.

If, if this is true, then there will be hell to pay for this betrayal, but until I see it's true, I'm taking this with a huge grain of salt.

MSNBC is now saying that Senate Dems will meet today and vote Monday.

Democrats want people to have access to food and healthcare. As I understand it, the 'deals' being discussed would extend the ACA tax credits and reopen the Government.

That hasn't been part of any of the reporting I've seen but would be great if true.

What about the House? A vote is nothing it takes five minutes for the republicans to vote it done that is no deal it's a surrender.

Hard for Johnson to spin his way out of that.

Doing this would be a horrible mistake. Personally I think it's b.s. they should need 60 votes anyway. Republicans never needed 60 votes when they tried to repeal the affordable health care act or when they gutted medicaid while giving massive tax breaks to the ultra wealthy. They did it all under reconciliation so they can find a way to extend the ACA subsidies under reconciliation too.

If Democrats do this they will get absolutely nothing out of it.

They tried to repeal it with a simply majority vote and didn't get it. Thanks to John McCain.

Not ideal - but liveable, since I think we'll be in a better position a year from now to make a permanent extension.

But a promise to vote on whether or not to extend them is a whole lot of nothing. Nope.
