Do I have this right? We are so fucked as a country.

I'll wait until there is more proof of this before I light my hair on fire.

(45,473 posts)This is the right attitude. Be alert and wary but dont jump to conclusions. From what Im reading, it may come up for a vote tonight, but the leadership will vote no and its still not certain there will be 60 for yes.
Regular reminder that Axios stories saying Dems are about to cave are likely sourced from GOP staffers trying to make it happen.

Doesn't mean it definitely won't happen. But it's like those NYT stories that Harvard is considering caving (they haven't). The anonymous source was trying to manifest it.

What are Democrats [allegedly] doing?
Where did you hear about it? What sources are cited in where you heard about it?
What are the specific actions that indicate throwing in the towel?

(1,142 posts)And there are real consequences of the shutdown. It's a much tougher decision either way for people who want a functional government and are responsible for it than those of us who aren't making any sacrifices for the shutdown. How long are you willing to let government employees not get paid to hold out for your preferred position? What if Republicans hold out until after the ACA open enrollment ends and the current rates are locked in?
