A word of caution

I don't want to get in the way of the mass hysteria, but:

A word of caution about the new Axios report that Dem Senators are caving. Remember the NYT ran articles for months claiming that Harvard was caving, which.. never happened. Turns out their anonymous sources were Trump staffers. Axios may be similar.

But, it never hurts to call your Senator.

Here's the Axios article. They claim to have sources in "both parties" but they have zero people on the record, nor do they provide any explanation for why their sources were granted anonymity. Anonymous, possibly motivated rumor didn't used to be considered journalism. 2/

capitolhunters (@capitolhunters.bsky.social) 2025-11-09T21:29:05.807Z

Semafor reports the same story - "Deal to reopen government starts to come together" - but while they quote 3 GOP Senators, they have no Dems on the record. Mullin and Rounds say things like "It’s just a matter of one or two things to be worked out". No specifics. 3/

It would indeed be monumentally stupid and hurt so many people. Hopefully the Democrats are not caving and do not give Trump a massive victory and boost to his popularity, which he will gloat about for weeks while killing the most vulnerable people in society.

Caving with no compromise should not even be a possibility. It would be absolutely brain dead.

I would have thought that, by now, we'd all be a bit more skeptical.

I hope I'm right about it and will be sorely disappointed if it turns out to be true.

and it seems that some are pushing what the con and the Republicans want the narrative to be.

There are so very few sources I trust at this point.

But Hakeem Jeffries said today that House Democrats will not pass any legislation that only offers a future discussion on health care prices. Any such legislation will be DOA.

This exactly! They all just want the "breaking news!!11" and "Dems in disarray."

And, of course, too many on social media want to knee jerk hate Democrats.

it would not be DOA.

Our best hope is that at least several R representatives realize that they will lose if they vote for something that eliminates the subsidies.

I call senators and congressmen a lot and it is always a good thing when I hear that the politicians' voice mail/messages is full.

This leads me to believe that not enough people are calling and expressing their opinions to Schumer.

because Democrats, even the jellyfish among them, are not in a caving sort of mood, not after last Tiesday confirmaed the fact that America by and large isn't buiying that Republican pack of lies about the shutdown.

"Aw, go ahead and tun that story. It's worked in the past, the American people are really stupid, they'll buy it again."

It's why I knew the NYT was nothing but fishwrap 50 years ago.

But again - the caveats are "the vote", and then if what they have isn't what the House passed, then it HAS to go BACK to the House that Johnson refuses to call into session in order to stifle the Epstein discharge petition and it will really put the pressure on him to swear in Adelita Grijalva.

Cry bag about not having the votes then give votes away when they have some leverage.
