In the movie the psychiatrist asks Hermann Göring why so many people followed Hitler. I'm paraphrasing but he said because he promised a return to past glory and had a convenient scapegoat for why it was lost. Sounds awful familiar.

(112,088 posts)I recognize that this is a different focus on the issues and events. Still, I am trying to get everyone I know to talk to someone under the age of 30 (and others) to go see it--whether it be their children, their friends, their neighbors.. Americans desperately need that reminder of history (whether or not they learned it to begin with) and hopefully to see the frightening similarities today.

(101,482 posts)Alec Baldwin and Brian Cox are fine actors but Michael Shannon and Russell Crowe are great as Robert Jackson and Hermann Göring. In the movie Crowe's Göring speaks German and English.
