House Republican says party ‘going to get killed’ in midterm elections

Rep. Jeff Van Drew (R-NJ) foreshadowed bleak midterm elections for the Republican Party unless its members can address those struggling with healthcare.

...snip...

“In the short term, people are getting the renewal notices, their premiums are doubling, so I’m saying we need to deal with that now because otherwise, No. 1, it is the right thing to do just morally, No. 2, we’re gonna get killed,” Van Drew said.

over today I'm feeling very apathetic towards the Democrats and find that I have a hard time believing now that they will ever fight for what I need.

3. I think there is a reasonable chance something gets worked out on enhanced subsidies at least for a year.

Certainly not a slam dunk, but some extension seems likely, perhaps with some phaseout at upper income levels.

But it also makes healthcare a huge issue in midterms.

11. Well, yes... that's true. Republicans will suffer as long as we make it clear that THEY are to blame...

and this misplaced and irresponsible drumbeat of "blame the Democrats" and "hate-on the Democrats" is a mistake. Put the blame where it's deserved: squarely in the lap of the GOP.

THEY are the ones in charge (not the Democrats). THEY are the ones setting the agenda (not the Democrats). THEY hold all the cards (not the Democrats).

It's just silly and unrealistic for anyone to expect miracles from a party that's in the MINORITY for all three branches of government (an the courts, and with a complicit media).

Yet, here we are... also having to deal with individuals who are determined to paint the Democrats as "complicit" or "the same as" the Republicans (thus weakening the support and the VOTES we need if we're to EVER gain control again.)
