I thought it was supposed to be all his fault.

(10,833 posts)... not needed. I saw his speech on voting "No" and, while sharp, it lacked the passion in others.
I think Schumer secured the needed votes but stayed on the no side for self preservation.

(38,632 posts)Senate. If he was opposed to it, it is his job
to try and stop it. Did he ever say if he was
opposed to the deal?
He gave speech against it on the floor of the senate before the vote.

(18,682 posts)There were JUST enough defectors to pass the vote. So either Schumer has no control over the Senate minority, or this was orchestrated in a way to protect anyone who might face immediate blowback. Take your pick. Neither one of those options is portraying strong leadership. We just ended the longest shutdown in history for...nothing. NOTHING! People are pissed and rightfully so. In times like this, people want to feel like their leaders are fighting for them and providing a real opposition. This ain't it

(10,601 posts)Peters and Ossoff changed their votes at the last minute to "no". Schumer voted "no" but did nothing in advance to discourage those who voted for it. And how many others were there who were in favor of caving but too afraid to do so publicly? So now we are supposed to get all excited to vote for more of them? Sorry, I will still vote for Democrats because there really is no other alternative but excited about it? Why would I be?

I would try to figure it out, but whats the point. Were already up Shitts creek in a chicken wire canoe.
I see some murmur about that Senator from Nevada blaming the shutdown for the demise of Vegas. When the truth is President Millers ICE did that.

(6,797 posts)Wow, what a coincidence! All eight votes have zero consequences in the next election. Funny how things work out even if leadership is not actively choreographing it, tra la la.
I like to think I was born fairly recently, but it wasn't fucking yesterday.

(9,260 posts)He lost control of his caucus. He should resign, or be removed. This was an catastrophic failure of leadership.
