The Consequences Of Losing Healthcare

The Big Ugly Death Bill is law, Medicare, Medicaid, the VA are being gutted. There is a good chance that Obamacare will be unaffordable.

The KFF stated that 50,000 people will die per year if the Obamacare subsidies are not renewed.

How many people are in the same boat as me and my wife?

25 years ago I got cancer. Because I had healthcare I was diagnosed with cancer from a routine checkup. My cancer was diagnosed early enough that after an operation I have been cancer free. Without healthcare, I would be dead many years ago.

5 years ago my wife was diagnosed with cancer from a routine checkup. It was caught early, she had an operation and is cancer free today. She would have probably died by now.

How many more of my DU friends have similar experiences?

ps/ I am on Medicare and have scheduled my 2nd knee replacement before AI tells me I'm too old.

I've been fortunate enough not to have major health problem for most of my life. Paid insurance premiums since I was 21.
Now things have developed and I might need medical care and have no money to pay for any insurance if I lose Medicare and Medicaid.
As a widow for 17 years and have only Social Security as income, it is not enough to pay for my current living expenses. House taxes went way up, as did everything else.

I cannot afford to sell my house because the cost of an apartment fit to live in near here is about &4000 a month. Also, the cost of a move is exorbitant. Not only for the mover, but also the
First month, last month and Security deposits are huge.

Yes, I have SNAP benefits, never applied until last year. Not much but it is a big help. My savings are gone.

There is no money here for increased insurance costs.
I guess I'll just die like thousands of Americans.
Thanks to the selfish Republican party and their selfish, evil leader..

You know they are making money at the expense of the rest of us.

I know what it’s like to get deathly ill with no health insurance. And I’m not looking forward to that being the case again. These fucking assholes deserve to have all of their rights stripped away from them and to be living in an 8 x 8 cage.
