Rep. Ro Khanna: Schumer 'should be replaced'

Rep. Ro Khanna (D-Calif.) is calling on Senate Democrats to replace Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) as leader after eight members of the Senate Democratic caucus voted Sunday to begin the process of reopening the federal government.

Khanna, a progressive Democrat who represents Silicon Valley, argued on social media that if Schumer can’t keep his caucus unified against a government funding bill that doesn’t extend enhanced health insurance subsidies, then he shouldn’t lead Senate Democrats.

“Senator Schumer is no longer effective and should be replaced. If you can’t lead the fight to stop healthcare premiums from skyrocketing for Americans, what will you fight for?” Khanna wrote on X.

Progressive Rep. Mark Pocan (D-Wis.) also took a shot at Schumer, noting the Democratic leader did not endorse the party’s nominee for mayor in New York, Zohran Mamdani, a self-described democratic socialist, nor did he disclose for whom he cast his ballot.

Unless, of course Durbin did exactly what Schumer wanted him to do.

Either way, Schumer should go.

...and dominated republicans in the period inbetween.

This is a fantasy take that invites Democrats to be demoralized, instead of continuing the winning political fight up to the midterms.

Sure let's start demanding the slim majority we have dismantle itself because that worked out so well the last time people convinced our president to stand aside.

Why are people playing subtraction of Dems instead of addition? What kind of idiotic defeat is this backbench Dem demanding now??

"For every blue-collar Democrat we will lose in western Pennsylvania, we will pick up 2-3 moderate Republicans in the suburbs of Philadelphia. And you can repeat that in Ohio, Illinois, and Wisconsin." Chuck Schumer in 2016

In your wildest dreams can you imagine a Mitch McConnell say something like that? Hey we need to embrace policies that protect minorities, and also let's run on national healthcare. Don't worry, for every Republican we lose in the suburbs, we'll pick up Democrats in urban areas.

UN fucking BELIEVABLE

I've heard that bullshit way many times.

..but that's the danger..people think how other people feel like people feel. When you're a decent soul, one tends to be a decent soul. and believe others are truthful ..not like a Donald cockroach Trump. Of course, you know all that.

After last week's victories, Schumer helped to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory - which we all have fought so hard for.

Trump should be no where near the Oval Office. We were warned! The news media is a complete failure. So much needs fixing. Reading that the DOJ is an empty shell of what it needs to be.

Disaster at every turn. We need headlines about new leadership. And we need to tackle the FCC. Mainly we need to find a way to educate the masses to beware of "influencers" who are only in it for the money. They are not THE FOURTH ESTATE!

Ro can be very effective. But I notice here that he doesn't seem to have anyone in mind. That's a big problem with our party. We keep acting like we have this limitless choice of brilliant, effective, meritorious leaders who just can't wait to lead us. Then we crap all over the leaders we have, and that supposedly increases our pool of choices? I just think that if you limit yourself only to the masochistic when choosing leaders, you're limiting your choices drastically.

...notwithstanding the bullshit that makes up this complaint superimposing the actions of others onto him.

This isn't Democratic advocacy, it's a thrown bomb that has no concern about who is hurt in the process of the destruction called for.

It's basically an invitation to suucide, I guess emboldened by the self-immolation Dems participated in which lost us the last election.

What a fucking stupid suggestion.
