I remember when Congress didn't shut down the Government as a negotiating tactic

Or as a way of grandstanding.

know anything about the people they vote for in the primaries? I bet most know nothing and aren't interested in taking the time to find out. I say this because I do, and it is a time-consuming process.

Negotiation by gun held to your opponent's head. They certainly can't pass their agenda with the arguments to change minds.
