https://www.cnn.com/2025/11/10/politics/supreme-court-same-sex-marriage-obergefell-kim-davisReal short version: Kim Davis - the Kentucky county clerk that got sued bigly for refusing to license same-sex marriages - filed an appeal with the Supreme Court that was intended to overturn the Court's Obergefell v Hodges decision. The Supremes refused to take it up, which will probably lead to a 55-gallon drum of ketchup being thrown at the White House mess hall wall and vast numbers of rage tweets from the Mighty Wurlitzer.
But if you're a rational person, this is a bit of good news for today.

The old guard will say its too radical and for them, it just might be but these old ways are not whats needed in this century. Im 78 years old and before my demise, I want to go knowing were not spinning our wheels and going the way of caving every time we have momentum on our side. We the People. Says it all. O, Im mighty pissed but I hope we put that energy to good use.

(37,980 posts)It was an appeal of a civil suit awarding Davis damages for refusing to do her job. The fact that she tried to make it about overturning Obergefell does not make it so.
