?si=XikyIBnwz_iAWXVpHe is planning the next move and I will continue to follow his activism.
Last night I looked for responses from him and I only was able to find 2 Instagram posts. He was "shocked". I can't post them since I don't do social media.
The largest protest in USA history ( 21 million at NO KINGS Oct 18th) and then a huge "blue wave" on election night.
"Dems should stop treating the GOP as a partner instead of a real opposition. 8 Dems are retiring and not up for reelection voted with MAGA last night. There may be more than 8 members who aren't in line and recapitulate. This a problem with the Dem leadership. Hold the leader and caucus accountable. Dems are not moving forward with choosing a new leader. Indivisible says THE PRIMARIES are our next focus. Dems need to call out for new leadership. Schumer must step down.
Long term: Indivisible is now working on the largest "primary program" Indivisible has done. The Senate and House will both be addressed.
Short term:
1. This is not a totally done deal. The Freedom Caucus could blow itself up. Not much of a chance realistically. Jeffries is not happy with the deal and is going to whip his caucus to come up with a vote in the House. Encourage your Dem reps in the House. Call them!
2. Push majority Dems to ask for new Senate leadership. We need a united leadership!!!
Ask the Dems in office, "Who do you support for leadership, what are you willing to fight for, and how do we know you will fight for this?".

(30,624 posts)Rachel asked Bernie Sanders if Schumer should step down, Bernie just smiled and said that there are only 7 or 8 progressive Senators, who would you replace him with?

(9,863 posts)Let's see how well he does -- or do his quoted comments mean he's already given up the fight before it's even begun?
Isn't he supposed to be one of the """fighters?"""
So strange...

(21,479 posts)Thanks for posting.
I hope Indivisibles 2026 primary campaign includes insisting the senate candidates it backs support expanding the court, and killing the filibuster to do so.

(16,103 posts)That makes more sense. I was confused by an earlier thread where Duer yellow_dahlia mentioned an Ezra.
From the context, I just couldnt see how it could be that sleazy, awful and annoying centrist shill Ezra Klein.
I vaguely wondered if a heavy object had fallen on his empty head resulting in a change of heart, mind, character, personality, soul etc. That guy is a Good German if ever I saw one. One of the many reasons I contribute to Nathan Robinsons Current Affairs is that he lays into guys like those.
I must check out Ezra Levin
.

(54,364 posts)It takes a while for my old brain to differentiate between the two. I'm so glad younger Dems are seriously concerned and informed about the constant changes and messages from political groups. I wish I still had their young, active minds. They give me a little "peace of mind" and hope and I'll take any I can get at this point in politics. The young
people have the energy and they will drive us to victory.

(16,103 posts)I think you mentioned being an educator at some point long back BigmanPigman..that was very educational
, so thank you.
Very inspiring even outside any strictly election politics based context. I really liked that lady as well (Jen?). Good interview. I rarely listen to clips, but that one was well worth it.

(54,364 posts)"Teacher's Mode" and I consciously tried to write a clear, factual summary of what I have learned.
Being a teacher comes in handy. When I have called both GOP and Dem reps to complain about their actions/agendas I always throw in the fact that I am teacher. I know people respect teachers and when I tell a phone staffer that I'm a teacher they take me a little bit more seriously.

(16,103 posts)Its why I dislike jerks like Jonathan Chait. I cant say I understand the charter school issue very well. But I understand where I stand on it. That sounds perilously like George W Bushs gut instinct drivel. Thats not what I mean though.
The world is so complex now, it is difficult even for an educated person to have more than a superficial grasp of most issues. But that is not a reason to not have a position where it is important. It helps you know whom to trust or pay attention to versus tune out. That in turn has a lot to do with your peace of mind.
(I would like to pass on information privately to fellow progressives about navigating information-poor environments sanely in the far future.)
As for the being ignorant, to crib from my betters, I am posting something I saw just yesterday on Langston Hughes:

She is an excellent writer. She (along w/ Norm Eisen) founded The Contrarian.

(71,416 posts)We need new leaders and new blood too. The ones with fire in the belly who will fight with us. But if the incumbent wins then we vote for they/them. Always vote Democrat. I signed up and donated-you don't have to donate... work in small groups across the country. The head of the DNC wants a 50 state strategy for state and national races also. He was very impressive too.
