MI-GOV: Republican candidate for governor plans march in Dearborn

Anthony Hudson, a Republican candidate to be Michigan's next governor who has publicly vowed to "expose Dearborn for what it is," plans to hold a march in the city on Nov. 18.

In a series of social media posts in recent days, Hudson of Grand Blanc Township has said his demonstration isn't about religion. But he has also said the event is meant to "protect Americans from Sharia law," a term that refers to the principles that guide the lives of Muslims.

In an interview last week, Hudson, a truck driver by trade, told The Detroit News that the march would be only a "peaceful walk through Dearborn."

"We have a constitutional right to assemble," Hudson said after a Republican Party-hosted debate in Macomb County. "We're not going to go block streets. We're not going to be screaming religious ... comments to people.
