Budget Deal - some say it was a win

I've seen so many posts and articles screaming about the Dems caving, etc. Well, have you listened to Lawrence O'Donnell?

And here's a discussion from The Bulwark, Tim & Will "Calm Down - Democrats WON the Shutdown!

Over here where I work, preparations were underway for the shutdown to last into January. I think Lawrence's points about 'Who really caved? How many Republicans shifted their votes after 5 Dems did?'

Everyone can see just how cruel and careless Trump and the R's are. Done.

then why didn't at least 40 of the Senators vote with the repukes to approve the deal?

Back pay for everyone who wasn't getting paid and air safety for the holidays.
Extension of ACA UNTIL end of January.
Rebooting of SNAP.
Should be able to get the Epstein investigation going now.
High focus on the ACA IF they still attempt to raise the premiums.
And. This is my longshot. Let's tell Trump if he doesn't want all his pederasty to come out , HE MUST RESIGN IMMEDIATELY. Then if he resigns, fuck him over anyway and bring it all out.

you understand that this already happened. It is just the notices going out now... The new premiums are actually the same as the old premiums, the only difference is that the subsidies are gone. This did nothing to extend the payment of subsidies.

Rebooting of SNAP... by which you mean a new promise to actually send out payments for a LAW that already exists.

BTW, does the back pay and reinstatement apply to Government contractors as well? When I was a contractor during the Newt Gingrich shutdown, the civil servants all got paid for the missing weeks whether they were working during the shutdown or not. Contractors got nothing, and many like me were required to work ( or quit but then no if you did you would not have a job when the shutdown was over ). Civil Servants make up only about 10 to 20 percent of the workforce, everyone else is a contractor.

There are a lot of Dems here trying to put lipstick on this pig... only the pig isn't sitting still for the process.

3. The deal fully funds SNAP and the VA until the end of the fiscal year (September 30, 2026).

Democrats have been trying to bring those bills to the floor for months. This week there will be a vote.

Trump and Johnson cannot use the potential suffering of hungry kids and veterans as a bargaining chip in the next go-around in January.

It appears that many people have no idea whatsoever what's actually in the deal, but they are perfectly happy to amplify anti-Democratic Party messaging anyway.

The language is clear in the Constitution and Krasnov was about to lose in the Supreme Court.

6. "That was probably going to happen anyway" is an interesting response.

And, of course, veterans would still find themselves under the bus.

Sorry, but I don't amplify anti-Democratic Party messaging.

8. I can't find a single thing supporting Lawrence's claim of an increase in SNAP funding.

Guarantee of existing funding until the end of the fiscal year, yes. But guarantee of existing funding is NOT an increase in SNAP funding.
Everything else he touts is just avoiding consequences of the shutdown - which gained us nothing. It just means the shutdown didn't create long-term damage to those directly hurt in the short term.
