Jon Stewart on the shutdown "deal"

Some good points. Many already discussed, but still worth noting, without trying to beat a dead horse.

I know that some still argue that it was a good deal. We got nothing but a promise though, from a group who doesn't act in good faith, and add to that neither donnie or the dipshit Speaker agreed to the deal. If it was a great deal, then more than the just enough needed and uniquely not on the ballot next year few would have voted for it. We need to move forward, but let's not bullshit ourselves.

Anyway, Stewart makes some of these points, among others as well...

2. What do you disagree with about his analysis? Because he nailed it.

Showed the side by side hypocrisy of all the members who voted for this non deal. Seriously, what did he say here that makes him a fuckwad in your mind? He called it beforehand and he broke it down masterfully.

Did you also think he had good points about Biden whom he spent a great deal of time criticizing?
I will never see him or Clooney as anything but attention whores again, and used to like them.
Biden was a great President and he deserved better.

I loved joe Biden as much as you but his fate was sealed after his disastrous debate performance. He also failed at one major thing, preventing Trump from getting back into office, which will destroy any legacy he would have had

Because of people like George and John. The Democrats did this to themselves, they didn't have his back. He doesn't have Dementia and he passed more bipartisan legislation than any Pres since FDR. How's he supposed to stop anything when his own people are stabbing him in the back? We should have stuck together and had his back. His disastrous debate performance is Trump's everyday performance.

9. Common misconception, the debate had no impact on voter preference

Biden's numbers did not start falling until Schiff, Pelosi, & others (Clooney & Stewart) demanded he step down

President Joe Biden’s performance during the first presidential debate has been widely panned, with critics and even those within his own party calling for him to step aside. But the question remained: Would Biden’s shaky performance against former President Donald Trump result in a noticeable dip in the polls for the president?

According to a new report from the Northeastern University-led data project CHIP50, the answer is no.

https://news.northeastern.edu/2024/07/09/biden-debate-performance-voter-preferences/

We compared the voting preferences of respondents who had previously participated in the April-May wave of CHIP50 to those of the same individuals reported during the week following the June 27 US presidential debate. Our results indicate a modest churn of voters’ preferences, with no substantial shift in the race between Biden and Trump.

It's a general response to anything people like George and Jon say. I have no interest in their opinion and I'm using my free speech to voice it while I can

4. Jon Stewart neglects to inform his audience that the deal fully funds SNAP and the VA until September 30, 2026.

John Stewart neglects to inform his audience that, last night, the Senate passed two funding bills that Democrats have been trying to bring to the floor for months.

Jon Stewart neglects to inform his audience that Trump and Johnson failed to secure a clean CR, and that Johnson will be forced to pass the Democratic minibus funding bills and that Trump will have no choice other than to sign those bills into law.

Jon Stewart neglects to inform his audience that in the next budget go-around in January, Republicans will no longer be able to use the potential suffering of hungry kids and veterans as a bargaining chip.

And Jon Stewart utterly fails to consider the re-emergence of the Epstein files as the top story because he is too busy making fun of Democrats to notice.

Jon Stewart is too focused on trying to sound like a cool old guy to let facts like these get in the way of his tired shtick. What a tool.

Sorry, but a superficial hipster take by a guy desperately trying to remain relevant does not count as "analysis" in my book.
