(58,976 posts)YouTuber did it or if she just copied video from someone else who'd already edited that woman's name and TikTok ID out.

(6,508 posts)Sheila of Celtic Sheila Tarot reposted this and didnt say who the righteous ranter is. I looked through her comments but didn't find a name there either.

(58,976 posts)with Cheryl Neely's name. What you posted steals the credit she deserves. Someone edited her name out of the video.

(128,431 posts)like air traffic controllers, federal workers, military, disabled, etc., the actual people whose lives are in peril RIGHT NOW, who get to say "hold the line". She is also pointing out that we need to remind everyone, daily, constantly, who started this mess, who is to blame for it.

(17,067 posts)The Democrats put people over politics, and I truly believe that those people who were affected by the shutdown will remember that we cared enough to swallow our pride so that people less fortunate than us would be able to pay their bills and put food on their table, especially with the holidays coming.
I'm a bit tired of all the Dem bashing on this forum. Even on this forum there are people enjoying the media's "Democrats caved" meme.
Maybe I'm too woke but I'd rather give in than see children go hungry.
Redleg
(6,730 posts)but I struggle to dis-entangle political wins from moral wins. Did this amount to a political win or loss? What was the right thing to do morally, given that people are suffering from the shutdown itself?
llmart
(17,067 posts)I put morality over politics any day. I wouldn't be able to live with myself if I didn't.

(185 posts)Yes I am pissed. Very disappointed. And these are understatements.
I wanted the Dems to hold out for the one year extension of the ACA subsidies.
I think that was a mistake by the republicans not to accept that, and a very smart move by Schumer.
But the shutdown has had no effect on me personally.
Im not working without pay. I do not rely on SNAP. I am not furloughed. Etc.
In other words there is no cost to me personally.
So maybe those of us without direct skin in a shutdown should have a little humility.

(42 posts)It was obvious to me that the Republicans didn't care if folks starved or if folks had to work without pay, we ordinary people were just bargaining chips - hostages to be tortured until the other side gave up.

(78 posts)She explained how I have been feeling exactly, our anger should be laser focused on the Republicans and the people who voted for them.

(691 posts)It's a no-win situation. People on here that are not suffering are wanting us to hold the line, but it's devastating for others.

(11,923 posts)She's right. The rethugs have the numbers to trash ACA and they will do it no matter what the Dems do.

(58,976 posts)identifying her clearly IN the YouTube video she created, or even in the full video description. I had to skim way down the hundreds of YouTube comments to find someone asking for a link, and finally being given her name. That YouTuber is getting lots of attention for this but NOT giving proper credit.
The tweet below shows she's @cherylneely1 on TikTok.
It looks as though the text identifying her throughout the video was deliberately edited out, by either that YouTuber or by someone else the YouTuber got the video from. And that's disgusting. Plus the stupid AI summary on that YouTuber's channel identifies the YouTuber as the woman in the video.
Some info on her: https://www.linkedin.com/in/cheryl-neely-bb7847155

(31,423 posts)what about the millions that have the ACA now, and will not be able to afford the ACA when the subsidies end ( and they WILL end )?
Who speaks for them ( or screams at a camera ).
How many of them will go without health care and subsequently DIE because of the lack of care?
The Democrats caved. Period.
BTW, I was a federal worker during the Newt shutdown... and I never got paid for the time off.
