#BREAKING: Over a public dissent from Justice Jackson, #SCOTUS *extends* the temporary pause of the district court’s order that had mandated full SNAP payments for November—keeping that ruling (and those payments) on hold through the end of the day this Thursday:

In other words, the Court is trying to buy itself two more days to see if the House approves the shutdown deal (which may well moot this case), rather than having to rule *now* on whether USDA can be forced to fully fund SNAP for November. And KBJ objects because she’d just deny the application now.

Indeed, the text of the order doesn’t include the usual “and by her referred to the Court.” So Jackson clearly got overruled here.

We could deny them food for an EXTENDED period.

Not one of those people has ever felt real hunger or the anxiety of not knowing from where your next meal would come.

I think that those who make such decisions with such horrible impacts should suffer the same.

They really wanted the stay? Disappointing as my SNAP is supposed to come in at midnight tonight.
