We Cannot Rely on the Traditional Media. We must support the last remaining uncompromised, news services.

Public Radio and TV are the last remaining uncompromised, nation-wide news services. Actually, if you include the BBC and the like, there are offices throughout the world. They broadcast actual, real, news – good solid information. You won’t find 50% “infotainment”, commercials, or “happy talk” on their news programs.

Regrettably, we can no longer rely on the large media corporations for reliable information, as the majority of them have been sold or have paid millions in “tribute” to P. T. (President Trump) settling law suits that they would have won. CBS News now has a “minder” (which may explain their recent softball 60 Minutes interview with P. T.). CNN and others report 18 false statements (see below for links *) that were not corrected. Perhaps we shouldn’t sugar coat it, aren’t these better characterized as lies and deliberate attempts to misinform?

To really keep informed, we need to read many sources, subscribe to many newspapers, blogs and websites. We need to sort though hundreds of stories each week, because “we want the facts, ma’am.” All that takes a tremendous amount of time and money.

Organizations such as DU and Public TV and Radio make it easier. Every day we get juicy morsels of information straight to our eyeballs and to our ears, to help us stay informed during this critical time in our nation’s history.

I believe our democracy is in jeopardy. The First Amendment has been shredded, along with significant portions of the Constitution. A corrupt Supreme Court hides their decisions in the dark using the “shadow docket.” They create law out of thin air with no respect to precedent or the Constitution. They have granted the President unheard of and extra-constitutional immunity. P.T. has unleashed the power of the government against his political opponents.

During the shut down, the President has essentially no check to his powers; the separation of powers has been run through a wood chipper. During the shutdown, for all intents and purposes, Trump has become a king. He has ordered more than 65 murders. The red lights and alarms are flashing. We have been warned. We need to donate and support the news sources that provide our information. It is time to get involved in politics. We need to vote, we need to support honest, reliable candidates who will pay attention to the Constitution. We need to protect our Democracy.



Keeping informed is one of the most patriotic first steps you can take.
