Sex offender Jeffrey Epstein referred to Donald Trump as the "dog that hasn't barked" and told his former companion Ghislaine Maxwell that an alleged victim had "spent hours at my house" with Trump, according to email correspondence released Wednesday by Democrats on the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform."I want you to realize that that dog that hasn't barked is trump," Epstein wrote in a typo-riddled message to Maxwell in April 2011. "[Victim] spent hours at my house with him ,, he has never once been mentioned."
"I have been thinking about that ... " Maxwell replied.

(3,058 posts)Or, if Epstein was a fan of Sherlock Holmes, it would be an allusion to the story of a horse theft where the guard dog didn't bark; Holmes realized this silence was significant and meant that the thief was well-known to the dog (The Adventure of Silver Blaze). In this case, Epstein could be saying that Trump was so familiar with Epstein and his misdeeds that he didn't bother to speak out about it.
But that interpretation doesn't really fit - if taken literally, Epstein's phrasing would mean that Trump, the guard dog, didn't give out a warning when the Feds started to investigate Epstein because Trump already knew them and wasn't bothered by their presence.
I'll take what's behind Door #1, Monty.

(38,941 posts)House Democrats on Wednesday released emails in which Jeffrey Epstein wrote that President Trump had spent hours at my house with one of Mr. Epsteins victims, among other messages that suggested that the convicted sex offender believed Mr. Trump knew more about his abuse than he has acknowledged.
Mr. Trump has emphatically denied any involvement in or knowledge of Mr. Epsteins sex-trafficking operation. He has said that he and Mr. Epstein, the disgraced financier who died by suicide in federal prison in 2019, were once friendly but had a falling out.
But Democrats on the House Oversight Committee said the emails, which they selected from thousands of pages of documents received by their panel, raised new questions about the relationship between the two men. In one of the messages, Mr. Epstein flatly asserted that Mr. Trump knew about the girls, many of whom were later found by investigators to have been underage. In another, Mr. Epstein pondered how to address questions from the news media about their relationship as Mr. Trump was becoming a national political figure.
The White House did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

In April 2011, for example, as Trump took on a higher political profile, Epstein sent an email to longtime confidante Ghislaine Maxwell that read: i want you to realize that that dog that hasnt barked is trump.. (REDACTED) spent hours at my house with him ,, he has never once been mentioned. police chief. etc. im 75 % there.
A direct email exchange from 2011 between Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell, just released by House Oversight Committee Democrats.

The fact that Trump and the late millionaire pedophile had a relationship is not new. Not only have we all seen the video footage of the two men hanging out, but as my MSNBC colleague James Downie noted, Trump told New York magazine in 2002: Ive known Jeff for 15 years. Terrific guy. Hes a lot of fun to be with. It is even said that he likes beautiful women as much as I do, and many of them are on the younger side......
Theres also this email, in which Epstein wrote that Trump of course ... knew about the girls.

Democratic Rep. Robert Garcia of California, the ranking member on the House Oversight Committee, said in a statement: The more Donald Trump tries to cover-up the Epstein files, the more we uncover. These latest emails and correspondence raise glaring questions about what else the White House is hiding and the nature of the relationship between Epstein and the President. The Department of Justice must fully release the Epstein files to the public immediately. The Oversight Committee will continue pushing for answers and will not stop until we get justice for the victims.
