When beloved Idaho community member is deported, brain dead MAGA pastor blames Biden

Long read. Summary: Refugee from Bhutan settled in Idaho, married a MAGA type and had a kid. has arrests which caught up with him during Trump's ICE raids. He was deported. Idiot Trump voting pastor blames Biden.

A refugee’s deportation rattles a deeply conservative town: ‘What Trump has done is not Christlike’
Binod Shah, a refugee from Bhutan, went to church, got married and started an auto shop in Twin Falls, Idaho. But an arrest record got him caught in the ICE dragnet

At 18, Stephanie joined a Christian ministry that took her to Uganda and later Indonesia, where she taught English for two years among Indigenous communities and at an orphanage. When she returned to Idaho, she enrolled at Aletheia Christian college, about 10 miles north of Twin Falls. There, the college’s founders, Pastor Randall Davis and his wife, Dr Diane Davis, who is also a professor at the college, introduced her to the growing Bhutanese refugee community in Twin Falls, including a young man named Binod Shah.

Sometimes, the conversations turned to politics. Stephanie, a conservative, says her moral compass was set by belief in scripture, strong borders and opposition to abortion. “Binod liked playing devil’s advocate when we talked about politics,” she recalled. “He did agree with some of Trump’s policies, especially on the economy.”

Weeks later, Trump was elected president again, after campaigning on the promise of ruthless mass deportation of undocumented people in the US, particularly those with a criminal background. In Idaho, he won 67% of voters, including members of Stephanie’s family (Stephanie declined to say how she voted). Randall and Diane voted for Trump, as did Stewart and many of Binod’s customers and co-workers. In spite of the looming deportation order, they did not think Binod, a refugee, would be caught in Trump’s anti-immigrant dragnet.

Randall has known Binod for more than 16 years. A self-described conservative constitutionalist Christian, he blames Joe Biden for Binod’s deportation. “Biden was completely responsible for it. Trump wasn’t,” he said. In Randall’s view, Trump was “just fixing the border”, cleaning up after Biden’s failure to control immigration, and Binod was collateral damage.

if Biden had closed the border, we wouldn't have had this " illegal immigration crisis", and drumpf would not have had to take such drastic measures to get people out of the country.............

this is some Olympics level contortionism if I've ever seen it.

A fellow on a talk show was lamenting about what he felt was selective prosecution of him by INS. I forget the details. His green card may have expired or he may have overstayed his visa. He claimed that such infractions were commonplace. He stated that there was a tacit understanding that, if an Immigrant (having papers which were not in order) lived a crime-free life and did not associate with any unsavory parties, he or she would be free from prosecution by INS. The talk show hosts and others on the panel were not hearing any of that argument, and the fellow was cut off from the show.

The first is that there is NO definition of what had to happen so that the border would have been said to be closed. Just considering the routes some took, crossing rivers or deserts, it is clear normal paths between Mexico and the US were NOT open. Therefore what they are referring to is how immigrants were treated. One area that was different was how people asking for asylum were treated. One major problem is that immigration judges were scarce and waiting times long. Only legislation could have changed that and TRUMP led the Republicans to defeat a bill that would have helped. (The Trump alternative is to not allow these people to stay until their cases were adjudicated.

Not to mention, just closing the border was not the extent of Trump's agenda. If Biden closing the border, as defined by Trump would have eliminated the problem, Trump doing so when he came in would have done so as well. So, why the raids? What is clear is their agenda includes deporting Latinos in the country for decades, whether or not they have a criminal record. In fact, some detained are American citizens with no record other than being Latino. ( Or, as in his case, POC of any kind.)

Add to that that Trump wants the lowest level of refugees and to reserve most slots for South African whites. Pretty obvious agenda that even this pastor should be able to see.

I recall reading a report that one Trump supporter who was being deported said he did not blame Trump, but he blamed Biden instead. However, I do no know how credible that report was.

The point of all this is that MAGAs continually excuse Trump for everything, and they pin it all on Biden.

The inner reflection pool has been drained with MAGA. Funny how most of them are christians which strongly encourages introspection to improve oneself.
