Hegseth is a sexist asshole who does not think that women belong in his military.
The first woman nominated to lead the Naval Special Warfare command overseeing Navy SEALs had her promotion abruptly canceled â and military sources blame Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth's hostility to women in combat roles.

CNN reported the Navy captain, a troop commander with Navy SEAL Team Six and a Purple Heart recipient, had been ranked the top officer for promotion in her cohort and was in line to take charge over the elite unit until the plans were scrapped just two weeks before a formal ceremony was scheduled, and thanks to the Navy's up or out policy, her military career was effectively ended.
They want to keep it the brotherhood and dont like that shes coming in and challenging the status quo, a Navy special operations source familiar with the situation told CNN.....
One defense official familiar with the matter said there had been discussions about whether the role was necessary, and a Pentagon source said Hegseth was not involved and the captain's nomination was pulled because she was not a SEAL, but multiple sources told CNN they didn't buy those explanations.
They can justify it by saying shes not qualified because shes not a SEAL, said one retired SEAL. But the SEALs thought she was qualified.

This drunken sexual predator is destroying the careers of actual American heroes left and right...
They want to keep it the brotherhood and dont like that shes coming in and challenging the status quo, a Navy special operations said.
CNN, which did not name the female Navy captain in their reporting, revealed that she was "ranked the top officer for promotion in her cohort" and had received a Purple Heart after being injured by an improvised explosive device during a combat tour in Iraq. She had met every physical standard required of her in addition to maintaining a sterling record.
She went on to become the first woman to serve with SEAL Team Six as a troop commander and "everything was set" for her to take on her new role. A formal ceremony had even been planned for July and invitations were sent out.....
CNN also spoke to over a dozen active-duty women in the military and they all shared a "deep and growing alarm" that Hegseth's blatantly misogynist worldview could result in U.S. armed forces hemorrhaging valuable and experienced soldiers, while also discouraging future enlistment. Several knew of other female military members who were denied promotions that were due.
Many of the women voiced concerns that the process of anonymously reporting sexual assault could be negatively impacted an unfortunately all too predictable outcome given the fact that the commander-in-chief is an adjudicated rapist and Hegseth has been accused of sexual assault.

That piece of shit needs to be removed from a job that he has no business being in. The pettiness knows no bounds in this administration.

(13,639 posts)I would say the female Navy captain would have a great legal case. The commanding officer who issued her orders to become a troop commander needs to come forward, imo, and defend the decision, possibly in a lawsuit deposition.
Supposedly they're not letting her be a SEAL troop commander because she's not a SEAL. I'm going to assume that someone will dig up a case of a previous (male) commander who was also not a SEAL. If it's always been SEALs who have been promoted to troop commander, I think she would have a weak case. Unfortunately, it would look like someone was bending "standard practice" to benefit her. That would actually play right into Hegseth's hands and be a setback for women in the military.
If there have been non-SEAL males who have been troop commanders, she's got an open-and-shut case, imo.

(883 posts)He clearly is in retaliation mode. I'm sure he got rejected for flight school. I was an aviator (not a pilot) and they do some serous weeding out processes. He most likely got rejected and some women were accepted. It's hard for some men to accept the fact that women are capable.

A vote for the female would be too much for Captain (hic!) Morgan!
