On Mondays The Last Word, ODonnell acknowledged that the Democratic base had reasons to be frustrated over the way Senate leadership handled the vote, even if keeping ones party in line is a difficult job, especially during a shutdown.
Who in the United States Senate right now could have persuaded the senators from Nevada to worry less about the disruption in air traffic to Las Vegas? ODonnell asked, adding that every Democratic member of the Senate had a chance to persuade their colleagues against joining the compromise.
It might be easy to call for his resignation, but it is not easy to say who with a name could do a better job, ODonnell said of Schumer......
But funding the government wont be Johnsons only issue, ODonnell noted. When the House returns, the speaker must swear in Democratic Rep.-elect Adelita Grijalva of Arizona, whose arrival means eventually bringing to the floor a bill calling for the release of government files related to Jeffrey Epstein.

(16,762 posts)they tried to cajole, pressure and threaten Boebert, Mace, MTG, Massie not to sign on to the petition, which hugely failed and judging by the response to this, those files must contain really, really, really bad stuff for Been A Dick Donald and his billionaire friends.

(2,463 posts)Health insurance is not the same as health care.
Tell it to federal workers they should go without pay or the 42 million people who had SNAP benefits withheld that they should go without in favor of trying to keep health insurance subsidies which affect people who are better off in general such as small business owners.
Oh, and tourism is the lifeblood of places like Las Vegas, and if people don't visit, jobs are lost. So those people don't eat, and they don't have insurance, either.
Nobody "caved" except the GOP. There was a lot more at stake than ACA subsidies.
