Let me re-phrase.

Right now, if discriminatory behavior (hiring, social interaction, whatever), is launched against any particular group (Blacks, trans people, fat people), the only effective response is to affirm that group, by social communication and rules and laws.

We need to be vigorous in our defense of such groups. This, however, perpetuates a problem, as I see it.  We would be better off if we could deal with one another in our uniqueness.  Churches I've been to ask us to wear name tags that declare our pronouns.  That can mask the rich variety of qualities inherent in each person.  We're nudged to think of them, and ourselves, in terms of a group. In the case of a church, progressive, as well as gender identification.

I'm hoping for era changing ideas that will show us the way to fight for justice while, at the same time, promoting the habit of dealing with people in their rich variety of attributes.

Any ideas out there?

The best, the ONLY cure to WhiteChristianNationalism, race baiting, mysogyny, etc. is WINNING

If you're tired of hearing it from me, this is from the epilogue of "Stamped From the Beginning", by Ibram X Kendi.
This is of course, about racism, but racism is the engine of the Repugnant party.
Emphasis mine:

Protesting against racist power and succeeding can never be mistaken for seizing power. Any effective solution to eradicating American racism must involve Americans committed to antiracist policies seizing and maintaining power over institutions, neighborhoods, counties, states, nations—the world. It makes no sense to sit back and put the future in the hands of people committed to racist policies, or people who regularly sail with the wind of self-interest, toward racism today, toward antiracism tomorrow. An antiracist America can only be guaranteed if principled antiracists are in power, and then antiracist policies become the law of the land, and then antiracist ideas become the common sense of the people, and then the antiracist common sense of the people holds those antiracist leaders and policies accountable.

And that day is sure to come. No power lasts forever. There will come a time when Americans will realize that the only thing wrong with Black people is that they think something is wrong with Black people. There will come a time when racist ideas will no longer obstruct us from seeing the complete and utter abnormality of racial disparities. There will come a time when we will love humanity, when we will gain the courage to fight for an equitable society for our beloved humanity, knowing , intelligently, that when we fight for humanity, we are fighting for ourselves. There will come a time. Maybe, just maybe, that time is now.

In short (you saw this coming) DON'T KVETCH, KICK BUTT!

Any time spent griping about things you and I can't control or influence (1) takes away from things you CAN influence, namely ELECTIONS. That's the purpose of disinformation: to disempower you by focusing on people, and things you can't possibly control or even influence. And when that happens, they have won.

(1) or arguing with idiots on Facebook and the like.

2025:

One thing that works in limited situations is simply to work with a diverse group of people, learning TEAMWORK. This has been a goal (until recently) in the military, where your life depends on "the other soldier" and quite honestly, in successful companies and organizations. Diversity makes your organization better. All sports, since the days of segregation (NOT SO LONG AGO) prove this point emphatically. Despite some racist imbecile fans, this is abundantly clear. But magats live in denial, a cult trait.

There's a take on an old saying:

I'll see it when I believe it.

The brainwashed simply deny what's plainly evident, but that's another giant can of worms (OK, a container ship)

If I identify, say, as a white person,
that separates me from those who
are not white.

If I identify as anything other than
human, it also limits me.

However, the fact is, that we all also
have differences that are imiportant
to us; and those identities are also
to be respected.

3. It sounds like people are trying to put "structure" where it isn't needed.

Our personas are who we are at a particular point in time and in various situations.

They don't lend well to name tags that identify us on the infinite number of infinite spectra. (Unless I could have a name tag that pulsated in millions of colors every second depending on who I was with, the weather, my mood, my bank balance, etc.

Sure, we all want a quick way to "id" someone else - that's nature and necessary for basic survival. But in every case, whenever I've gotten beyond the "id", I've found a rich tapestry.

It is an intellectual exercise for some but for others knowing there are people who want to kill us or deny us our human and constitutional rights we must always be aware. What you are advocating for sounds great in theory but in practical application it does not stand. When white people decide to stop race baiting this will end. The Supreme Court said if someone looks different than the dominant race they can be stopped and sent to a prison facility. It is frustrating to constantly battle bs about solutions to identify politics when we know what the solution is.

This is a luxury many of us here since 1619 don't have. It's not realistic. And you know what? Neither you nor I put *the card* in the deck. Also - if I'm mugged by an Asian female little person . . . I'm not going to find other ways to describe the crook! No one would. Reality is so hard. In the meantime - the Epstein Files! Also - waiting on SCOTUS to give my company the 65% in tariffs on some components back. Also - prices are too damn high!

A million things to think about right now that bring us all together.

The prices ate too damn high.
