CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (CBS19 NEWS) -- Governor-elect Abigail Spanberger says the University of Virginia should wait to pick a new president.
On Wednesday, she sent a letter to the UVA Board of Visitors urging its members to pause the selection of the universitys 10th president until a full BOV is appointed by the governor and confirmed by the General Assembly.
She specifically wants them to wait until after her inauguration in January, when she will be able to appoint people to the board.
Current Gov. Glenn Youngkin has attempted to appoint several people to the board, including former Virginia Attorney General and state Senator Ken Cuccinelli.
That appointment was announced in March and quickly challenged in court and by members of the General Assembly.
