The fertility rate (the number of children per mother) is declining globally. The replacement rate (the number of children necessary to maintain a stable population) has long been thought to be about 2.1 children per mother; however, there are a number of new studies that indicate that, because of stochastic factors, the number may be closer to 2.7 CPM. ALL countries are seeing a decline in the fertility rate over the last 80 years, and most countries are now underneath the 2.7 replacement rate (the ones that aren't are primarily between the tropics of Cancer and the Tropics of Capricorn at 30 degree latitude around the equator). China's total population is already decreasing, India is now bigger than China, but it will start decreasing by 2035, and the United States, will likely peak before 2050 (sans immigration, it's already declining, and Trump's immigration policies will almost certainly hasten when we hit that peak).

The Great Replacement Theory that seems to be fundamental to MAGA and QAnon is a bastardization of this concept. For a short period of time, tropical people will be increasing relative to those outside the tropics, but by 2100, if NOTHING changes (big if, of course) then these populations will start declining as well. By 2150, global populations will likely hit around 5 billion people, a loss of about 4.5 billion people from the peak around 2070 (at 9.5 billion people, or about 1.5 billion more people than exist today). The reality will be that as populations decline, economies are going to collapse, and we'll likely see a technological regression as there won't be enough people to maintain the existing technological infrastructure of civilisation. MAGA views it through the racist lens of whites being overwhelmed by darker-skinned people, but in reality, the effects will transcend race.

I’ve already witnessed this drift happening. As the nuances of the core infrastructures aren’t passed on. Typically because they are under appreciated, not sustained (the people doing these tasks have to eat and have shelter. there’s no reward.), or aren’t “sexy” like being a social media influencer.
