If ANYTHING would have come out there would have been a non-stop, 24/7 pearl clutching fest from every whack job right wing nut job with a social media account screaming how Biden was “influencing the election”. Every r person in the legislative branch would be on every platform screaming about impeachment and probably more than a handful of democrats would be saying stupid shit on tv about how inappropriate it was….

This will only get better when 1 thing happens. And after the obligatory dancing in the streets, hopefully a reckoning…

The most official reason is because the Maxwell case and susbequent appeal were occurring during that period. Releasing the files would have helped calls for mistrials. She first went on trial in 2021.

A search for "Epstein Files" in news archives shows that term first shows up in 2019 (during trump admin) when an appeals court ordered them unsealed pending requests to keep them secreted away.

Of course, the cult members weren't demanding the release of the files during the Biden admin which is something else that could be thrown back in their face.

That's the beginning of the criminal investigation

Maybe even earlier when the FBI was first contacted about his crimes. I'd assume all that would be in what we now call the Epstein Files.
