Republicans asking "dying" congressman to hang on

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-15599525/Dying-congressmans-grim-Democrats-House-majority.html

Dying congressman's grim diagnosis hands Democrats a path to seizing back the House majority

Representative Neal Dunn of Florida may have a terminal illness, Speaker Mike Johnson told a group of GOP donors at a retreat in Florida on Friday, Punchbowl News first reported.

Dunn, 73, has said he will not run for reelection.

He also has ruled out resigning before his term ends in early 2027.

'I have no comment on personal issues such as Dr Dunn's health. He has been working as usual,' a spokesman for Dunn told the Daily Mail.

'As a dedicated public servant, he will remain in Congress to represent his constituents through the end of this term,' his representative said earlier this week.

But the announcement from Johnson that Dunn has a terminal illness underscores just how far the GOP is willing to go to maintain control of the House.

“laying on of hands’” has way too many implications right now.

Sad that they’re pressuring him to stay in office.

has a terminal illness, and decide that the correct usage of one's few remaining days in the one and only life one will ever live is hanging around the DC Capitol slavishly doing the will of the Insane Orange Anus.

Rumors that Neal Dunn, the current representative of Florida’s 2nd Congressional District, may not finish his term are circulating in mainstream news outlets.

His retirement would shrink the Republican majority in the House to 217-214, the thinnest margin for the majority party in the last 100 years.

Dunn officially announced on Jan. 13 that he would not seek a sixth term, prompting five Republicans to declare their intention to run in the primary. As of now, eight candidates are in the race: three Democrats and five Republicans.

Based on precedent from a recent Texas legislature special election and polling suggesting a leftward shift among voters, a special election in Florida’s 2nd District could guarantee a Democratic win
