If a trans person were caught jaywalking Republicans would be ranting about it every chance they got, meanwhile a trans person JUMPED INTO LAKE MICHIGAN IN THE WINTER AND RESCUED A STRANGERâS BABY and itâs crickets.

(101,697 posts)Their sexuality or gender, they did something heroic, they saved a baby from icy waters, they deserve to be recognized for it. I don't think that topic was on anyone's mind at the time of the incident.
Mean people suck.

(2,288 posts)Using "they" when someone has a clear pronoun is misgendering. In this case, the article is only about one man, who uses "he."
Republicans have a policy of choosing pronouns they are comfortable with, regardless of the identities of others. Their rationale might be different than the justifications given here, but the result is the same.

Apologies to anyone... hes, she, hers, hims, thems (did I miss anyone - there it is again!) who may be offended. I'm old, it's hard to keep up with groups I'm not familiar with.

Please don't mis-geographize this body of water.
