Marc Elias: The next Big Lie is to taking shape right in front of us.

The next Big Lie is to taking shape right in front of us. Donald Trump will try to use this to assert illegal and unconstitutional powers over the 2026 elections.

But that he cannot be stopped, and he will succeed without any pushback from the states, the courts or the people.

It is the unquestioned presumption of Trump’s omnipotence that gets my dander up.

I have some harsh words for people who are 100% confident that Trump can be stopped. He hasn't been stopped with anything before. He doesn't follow the law or the courts. He's got a military in place (ICE, etc. with detention facilities) that will just gun down people in the streets if they resist, and half of the god-damn states are on his side (like where I live - Texas!!!)

So, instead of some harsh words, how about you put my mind at ease and explain to me to just how exactly this is going to work and why I should be able to sleep tonight.

The perfect title for a book about the past 46+ years would be: WHILE THE NATION SLEPT

The "New" Republicans have been organizing, orchestrating this nightmare since at least 1980.........

Putting together somewhat of a "Check Mate" scenario, and moving closer every inch of the way for decades.....

It is really really upsetting to not see any relief from their constant trashing of the U.S. economy, the U.S. Constitution, and our beloved nation.........

Look, I hope that something happens and we don't face a real civil war in this country.

But my questions to the poster are real. I don't see anyone stopping Trump. And you are absolutely, 100% right, spot on, exact - when you say that they've been setting this up for decades. It did not start overnight and it did not all start with Trump. He is the end result.

What galls the absolute phuck out of me is when people either aren't seeing it, don't understand it, or else just deny it because they fear the reality and can't face it. ICE just bought a gigantic warehouse complex in San Antonio (near me) where they plan to "house" immigrants. If they are deporting the criminals (yeah, right!) as they say, why in the hell do they need a facility this large to "house" anyone? Those facilities are for more than just THAT purpose.

So, again, my questions are sincere and are real. I hope the poster has this figured out and can explain it to me and alleviate my fear. I know that *I* don't have it figured out. But I know that I don't feel safe and I have no confidence that we will continue to have a democracy. It may last another six months...maybe longer. But Trump, et al (and that means Putin) are intent on destroying the whole thing.

Some of us have been screaming our heads off since 1980 when HWBush and his CABAL committed TREASON to throw the election to Reagan............

Same we did for the Republican election corruption in 2000, 2004, 2016, 2024.............and the Dems in DC, and across the nation, just watched it happen and, were "concerned" and writing "stern letters"......

Some of us were posting what we were sure was going to happen, especially since the corrupted 2016, election, and were condemned for our thoughts........And yet here we are...................

A Republican aide in 2016, reportedly told a Dem aide,.........."We are on a roll, and ALL YOU DEMS WILL BE ABLE TO DO.... is stand back and watch"......................

They were all walking down the jungle path, swatting at mosquitoes, and totally oblivious to the herd of charging elephants.....
Pun Intended...................

And the most horrific reality is, Hamsterjill, WE AIN'T SEEN NOTHING YET............

Hang in there..........

And I have my doubts about her having lost. My gut tells me there was manipulation. I'm not technologically smart enough to explain or understand how, but I'm not completely stupid either. Trump didn't make those comments without some provocation.

Felt that way about Hillary, too. I don't have an explanation of how we won in 2020. Maybe that was a decoy, I don't know. Maybe the Dems figured something out.

Maybe I'm totally crazy. Maybe everything will be just fine. Yeah, right...

But I can tell you that I do know at least one thing for certain - and that is that MY feeling of security in this country used to be awesome. I used to be so proud to be an American. I used to cry (literally) when the Star Spangled Banner was played because I knew and believed in the sacrifices that have been made for ME to be a free person.

I no longer feel secure and I no longer cry when I hear that song.

2020: Trump Fatigue.
2024: Total (and predictable) collapse of a Democratic Presidential Campaign. Too little time for Kamala Harris.
2028: Likely even more Trump Fatigue. Much more.
No conspiracy theories are needed. Just believe what you see, even if it's sometimes hard to do. But what we see now is that Trump is truly unhinged and he does want to manipulate, if not eliminate, the next elections.

Even Mike Pence stood up in the end. But those people are no longer there. Trump cleaned house of anyone with a conscience for his second go around.

As bad as *I* hate to admit this - Chris Christie called this one years ago.

I hope someone grows a pair and stops him. I have enjoyed living in a free country, and I'd really like to continue doing that for my remaining years. I just don't have any faith that is going to happen.
