FIFA says it will 'monitor developments' ahead of World Cup following U.S. attack on Iran

FIFA plans to "monitor developments" and is focusing on "all the teams participating" in the 2026 World Cup this summer following the United States military attack on Iran.

The U.S., which is co-hosting the tournament with Canada and Mexico, launched missile strikes along with Israel on major Iranian cities Saturday morning. Iran responded with missile attacks of its own on Israel and American air bases in the Middle East.

Iran is one of the qualified teams for this summer's World Cup. In December, it was drawn into Group G with Belgium, Egypt and New Zealand and will play games at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California, and Lumen Field in Seattle.

The team is scheduled to set up a training base in Tucson, Arizona.
